So can we get Eoin Morgan back now or is he lost to England for ever?
Sorry, he's going nowhere. He's a white ball cricketer.

I was at the final last week. Good atmosphere but a shame India lost so many quick wickets.

Even in the unlikely event that he decided to return, by the time he served his years of playing international cricket for no one it would possibly be too late in his career (although him in his later years would possibly still be better than many from Ireland at the peak of theirs).

Don't see him wanting to voluntarily drop out of international cricket for three years though. For Ed Joyce and Boyd Rankin, it was an easier choice as it became apparent that they were not going to play again regularly, if at all, for England.
I think it's 4 years although the ICC have been flexible in the past and probably would be in the case given the circumstances.

I'd imagine Morgan's boyhood dreams would have been different if Ireland had test status. I support/supported England for the same reason and always looked on them as a British Isles team, a view supported by their selections

I think he meant British Empire. Mervyn doesn't like a setting sun.

Sorry Merv, my typo - it is indeed 4 years but flexibility has been granted in terms of maybe a couple of months depending on where and when World Cups have been staged. These are on a 4 year-ish cycle - not an exact 4 years, but may be slightly over or slightly under, depending on which hemisphere is hosting. Obviously no issue if it is more than 4 years, but when there has been less than 4 years between tournaments, flexibility has been granted so that a player didn't have to wait for two world cups to go around and miss one if they had ceased to play for the other team at the time of the previous WC. Flexibility is not a gimme, but they do seem to have shown fairness and common sense in the past.

My old fella would be incensed to hear this but my decks to give about cricket have diminished in recent years, in fact ever since the coverage left the BBC. I have fond memories of sitting for days watching, like Tommy from Comber, though I have actually been to a test match, and revelling in the commentary of John Arlott Jim Laker and Ritchie Benaud amongst many good commentators who grew around them, including my personal cricketer Geoffrey Boycott, the only Dnglushman ever dropped for scoring a double century, the target of lesser jealous men.

Now I rarely watch, however the most famous sportsman I've met was Sir Garfield Sobers with whom I was lucky enough to have lunch. He was mad keen to talk golf rather than cricket mind you, my specialist subject. I still have the signed Menu somewhere, think I had to show it to Grumps once because he couldn't fathom why Sobers was at North Down with Barbados. >EW

Anyway, I digress, sadly I'm not much bothered, I'm taking up pétanque, they are putting a couple or four courts in at my Spanish hovel on La Torre.

You'll be saddened to hear that Blowers is hanging up the mike at the end of this season Baggy. The last of the TMS stalwarts.

I was at a Sunday paella lunch near your gaff recently - just behind the windmill on the other side of the road past La Torre entrance. Half Spanish half Irish guests but the Spanish weemin did all the cooking. Excelente.

Blowers must have finally failed to get his leg over. That's it then, none of the legends remain. Can't be doing with Gower & Bob Willis.

Sounds good Merv, up Valle de Sol? Nice up there my property manager who retired last year lives up there. Private do, or somewhere you could recommend?

Private do Baggy. Some friends from Belfast who invite the Spanish neighbours around - and then get them to do the cooking

THIS?

Waringstown II v Waringstown III - one player from each team suspended for nearly a year for having a "disagreement" in the presence official umpires?

Is that the one?
