Ruan Pienaar breaks the spirit of the game
Ruan is a naughty boy apparently for kicking the winning conversion for Montpellier versus Clermont

Smart move by intelligent player, Clermont-Ferrand would have done the same, Ulster would have dropped a goal got restarted and give away a penalty at the restart

Should he have got another 90 seconds after the Clermont player encroached?

If he missed he would have been entitled to a retakebig mervyn wrote:Should he have got another 90 seconds after the Clermont player encroached?

It looks worse in slow motion....
Always ask yourself, "What would Big Rodney do"... And every time the answer is... "Eat It"

Bloody smart play. If that was us we would take the kick without waiting, miss it, knock on the resulting 22 drop out, they would go up and score a try denying us a losing BP.
I have my own tv channel, what have you got?
Re: Ruan Pienaar breaks the spirit of the game
Very smart play. People are precious about very little these days. If it happens against you - outrage, if your side does it - great play
Ulster would not have the brains to do that right now. He has got a large set of cojones on him to do it still.
World Rugby probably drawing up new rules right now that kickers can't stall/delay etc - similar to the time Italy managed to fool England last year with their non-rucking tactic, only to have it banned by WR.

If they stopped the clock for pens and conversions it wouldn't be an issue. It's invariably stopped for a prolonged TMO consultation in any case. 90 secs is, quite frankly, ridiculous. I thought it was a minute.

Thoughts are:
- Glad Ruan knew what he was doing, great pro.
- 90 seconds?????? FFFS is that a law or some French deviation
- Clermont fans will have been apoplectic, mainly because their 9 & kicker didn't know the laws and failed to take a simple 3 points that would have got them an SDC QF last year.
- Ruan Pienaar's Montpellier is top of the league, would love the great man to win a gong before he finishes.
- I may well have my bricks sold, when driving to Spain I may go via Montpellier if it's possible to catch a game, anyone got Ruan's number, I'm sure he'd want to meet up.

NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

Was just going to say that Montpellier are top of their league Baggy, I hope Ruan wins something with them and fair play to him for playing the game within the rules

Done that route a few times. You bypass half of the Top14 on the way. If you go the alternate route via the Atlantic Coast you get Bordeaux, Biarritz and Bayonne.BaggyTrousers wrote:Thoughts are:

Btw Baggy, in case you didn't know, there's a new ferry route direct from Cork to Santander (Brittany ferries).

Conversions are 90 seconds from moment try is awarded
Penalties are 60 seconds from moment penalty is awarded
