Ulster v Edinburgh Friday 16th Feb 7:35pm BBC2NI

Post by Neill_M »

Sean Reidy sustained a medial ligament knee injury that will keep him out of action for approximately six weeks.

Charles Piutau dislocated a rib cartilage and he will be unavailable for selection for a number of weeks.

Rob Lyttle suffered a hamstring injury of significance and he is expected to return to playing in 4-6 weeks.

Meanwhile, Andrew Trimble (back) and Peter Nelson (hamstring) have returned to training and are in contention for Friday's clash versus Edinburgh.

Edinburgh on decent run in the league - won 7 of last 9 games. Away defeats in Glasgow and Bloemfontein - only losses since start of October.

Were due to let Duncan Weir head down to Worcester for a short term loan, but are light at 10 for this week with Tovey and Burleigh injured, so the loan move is on hold for now.

Possible squad:

Ulster: Louis Ludik, Craig Gilroy, Luke Marshall, Stuart McCloskey, Andrew Trimble; Johnny McPhillips, John Cooney, Kyle McCall, Rob Herring, Wiehahn Herbst, Alan O'Connor, Kieran Treadwell, Matthew Rea, Chris Henry, Nick Timoney

John Andrew, Andrew Warwick, Rodney Ah You, Matthew Dalton, Greg Jones, Jonny Stewart, Darren Cave, Peter Nelson

Alternatively in the back row - there may be a rare sighting of Jean Deysel.

I'd start big Matt Dalton in the backrow. CH looked way off the pace when he came on vs Kings.

The game will no doubt "flow" with teams allowed to actively compete at the breakdown.
