You say that, but when Engerland's D-Day heroes took to the field last night, it had acquired the status of a "major international tournament"Dave wrote:That whole thing is a bollix.
Haven't a clue how the whole thing worked and couldn't give a flying feck. Made the Pro14 look straightforward. Enjoyed England's fans disgracing themselves and the result mind.

Royal Ascot. Off work for the week and great racing to look forward to. The only bits I don't like are all the ballix about the fashion and worse ballix about the 'royals' from ITV cap doffing peasants.

I see there's a lot of folk getting all upset about comments about the Irish language, and particularly about the spelling of words, from John Cleese on twitter.
Well shur folk love getting upset about very little.

I see there was a big fight which resulted in a few arrests within shouting distance of Her Majesty. Shocking stuff seeing folk all dressed up but acting like corner boys. Maybe a British thing and herself may have even enjoyed the extra entertainment.Cap'n Grumpy wrote: Stop trying to pretend yer nat a West Englander.

https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/c ... 08344.htmlA senior Northern Ireland civil servant was paid £10,000 (€11,150) in compensation because he was offended at having to walk past portraits of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, it has emerged.
His complaints led to the portraits being replaced by a picture of the queen meeting Martin McGuinness, the former deputy first minister of Northern Ireland and ex-IRA leader.
Lee Hegarty, who is currently in charge of the Northern Irish Parades Commission, claimed that under human rights laws it was unfair to him to have to work in a place where he was offended by such portraits.
I've heard of civil servants getting money for nothing but this really is the cherry on top.

Re: What makes you happy
Parked in the Victoria Centre a couple of days ago and was followed in by a young bloke in a big 4x4 with Dublin plates. He wasn't sure if he could get into the space between my car and a pillar so I guided him in very slowly; left a bit, right a bit etc. When I came back a couple of hours later he was gone and under my window wiper was a wee note that said, 'Thanks for the parking help. Get yourself a coffee.' wrapped round a fiver. Made my day.

Nice touch.
See, these D4 types are OK after all.

Re: What makes you happy
Doubt he was from D4. If he was he would have expected a poor Nordie to park the car and shower him with thanks for the privilege of serving his betters. Most likely a guy from 'down the country' sporting a D Reg.
