It's pretty clear that our pack ( and fly half ) are substandard, especially when a few first choice picks aren't available.
To be honest this has been the case for years
Unfortunately I rather suspect that, in a post covid world, we simply don't have any cash left having already signed Big Duane.
Nor would we be likely to get permission from Dublin.

If we are looking at bringing in NIQs, 10 should be the focus unless there is belief that Lowry is the long term answer with Madigan as his back-up. I'd like to see our current young props getting a real run at turning their potential into reality. Ross Kane is, at best, third on the tighthead depth chart. What do people expect from him? He's a sound enough squad player who can do a job, but will get found out at times.
Same as with 19 year old halfbacks, expectations need to be realistic for a no.3 no. 3.

We are playing our young props though , unfortunately we've only got three - O'Sullivan, O'Toole and Reid.
The prop cupboard is kinda bare at present.

Re Kane, pretty sure he wouldn't be a no.3 no.3 at the likes of Leinster or Saracens.
And there's the distinct chance he could be our no.1 no.3 if Marty stays injured and O'Toole is away with Ireland
