100% could of told you who would make it 3 years ago.

Crothers will be plying for Ealing or jersey.
McCormick won’t be a pro.
Carson shouldn’t of made the academy.
Sheridan wasn’t offered a place in the academy as far as I remember. Trinity u20s made him.

I agree with crothers, but Ulster don’t seem to agree with you considering Mccormick has been given a contract

Thought McCormick looked decent at u20 level, certainly decent enough to be a squad player a La John Andrew

Just my opinion from watching them at schools. Crothers was a good schools player for Wallace but was never convinced he could make the step up. What does he do exceptionally well?

Based on limited u20 viewing albeit. He just came across as well rounded, turnover and defence. Smart player with leadership. He's not the biggest but to expected for an open side.

I just can't fathom why Ulster still haven't identified the issue of why our best young player never push on! Regularly question if some of our past u20 players had of been in a different environment where would they be now?

Also thought McCormick worthy of a squad roll, seemed steady enough at U20. Far rather the likes of him got a contract over imports or IQ'd players.

Needs must I suppose. Herring probably retiring soon. Tom Stewart a cert to be at every Ireland camp going forward.

Wouldn’t be like ulster to disagree with me. These are my opinions, nothing more.

I've raised the question about why good u20 prospects constantly stall at UR. Starting way back with Paddy McAllister and before. Year in year out.

Same ref physical conditioning. McAllister was a good case in point. Went to Gloucester and became chiselled after being poorly conditioned at UR.

Think Crothers has had a few knee issues this year. He played a massive amount of games last year with AIL and Ireland/Ulster underage, touching on nearly 40 I think. Not ideal for a 19/20 year old

That is an abysmal return. Something still stinks in the UR set up.

Do we need 5-6 players featuring every year? Lasts years crop should have been pushed on by now, but in ulster we seem to stall their progress. How many of these leinster lads will go on to have a pro career? There isn't room for them all every year.

McNabney may cut a very lonely figure, had been looking forward to seeing who we had, but the answer appears "damn few". Not sure I can be ar$ed watching green shirts without an Ulster "constituency" present.

Hugely disappointing, what's happened? A fallow year or a systemic issue?

Most alarmed to see the entire front row are Mexican, worrying for the future if even half of those progress - unless some head north to the blues skies of Alster. Après tout, Leinster is still our largest source of players.
NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.
