Glad he is, although he’s no nearer the bench for the next game than TS (and Baird could also cover second row).

Not that weird Hendie would be fourth choice and the oldest of the second rows but I would expect only an appearance during the second half to be honest except for the fact that both AoC and Treadwell are unavailable. so one of the Reas could be featuring in the second row
In addition to those members of the academy who have featured in the back row there are also the Ward bros in the stream one with the 7s squad and one with the U20s who could be playing for Ulster in 2-3 years

Re: Ospreys away Sunday 18th Feb 3pm
Henderson will start and be captain. Why on earth would he be on the bench? He is literally our only quality second row.
Re: Ospreys away Sunday 18th Feb 3pm
Al that seems a logical conclusion except release of players from the International squad is usually conditional ie the interests of the national squad take priority and the exposure to injury must be minimised.
If Henderson didn't feature in Farrells thinking I would agree with you but Henderson is still a valued Player rather than a tackle bag holder who took over the Captaincy when he came on last week .
My expectation is an appearance from the bench to guide the team home in the second half.
As I have pointed out the Ulster squad is short second rows with an Academy full of potential back row players this game provides an opportunity to assess if any existing back row players can step forward to the second row. The "NEW Ulster " is meant to be based on mobility rather than bulk.

Re: Ospreys away Sunday 18th Feb 3pm
Does this mean Balacoune is out because of his interest in Sevens?
From the rolling glens of Antrim through the hills of Donegal we will stand and shout for Ulster as we win both scrum and maul from the lovely lakes of Fermanagh tae the shores of ould Lough Gall we will scream and shout for Ulster as we beat them one and all!
Re: Ospreys away Sunday 18th Feb 3pm
I guess Belfast Academy RFC is Belfast Royal Academy RFC. Incompetent copywriting from Ulster Rugby. If performance is in the detail, both on and off pitch, this says it all.Neill_M wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2024 1:04 pm Ospreys v Ulster, Round 10 of the BKT United Rugby Championship, Sunday 18 February, 3pm, Swansea.com Stadium (live on ViaPlay and URC.tv).

On a similar note, their 13 is from South Woodham Ferrers not Ferriers.

Surely Stockdale is from Lurgan RFC, has that changed?
