Interesting articles on Barrett's sabbatical - particularly the conversations between Scott Robertson and various clubs to ensure he would be physically and mentally looked after, and the emphasis from the player on development rather than the wedge he could have picked up in Japan.

On a lower scale - it's something Ulster and Ireland should be looking at as a tool to develop young players - a season abroad on a loan or sabbatical would be of such benefit to some of our Academy and Development players, get them out of the Ulster bubble and toughen them up.

TRANSFER NEWS: RugbyPass are reporting that Ulster are looking at signing ex All Black Aaron Cruden next year.

The 35-year-old fly-half has not played since September 2022 & is currently without a club.

Cruden would replace Billy Burns, who is headed for Munster.
