Every day's a school day. I never knew they were kicking the ball at the posts.

In my day we tried to kick the ball between the posts (and over the horizontal bar thingy). :duck:

(I hope I haven't upset anyone's sensitivities by my pedantry!)

Dunno mate. I was retired from the game 2 years before i knew there was a ball.
Can I come out from behind the sofa yet?

Sounds like an English front row forward to me

I remember once our coach complimented me on a good game and I thought, 'but I didn't touch the ball once.' So I'm with you BR!

We really will have to raise the bar on the competence and experience of posters on here!

Now yer just being silly.

I do seem to recall that the encouragement we received was along the lines of, "never mind the ball, just get on with the game!"

From memory, the game was something to do with closing with the enemy and getting them, before they got you. Sound familiar to any?

There was also, i think, another game going on on the same pitch between other players who did have a ball, but we never got near that.

Ball?
Much over-rated piece of equipment!

I'll personally make sure that never happens.
I have my own tv channel, what have you got?
