As forwards we know that anybody can chuck a ball straight down a gap, but it wouldn't be fair to upset the sensitivities of the girls kicking the ball at the posts.

Every day's a school day. I never knew they were kicking the ball at the posts.

In my day we tried to kick the ball between the posts (and over the horizontal bar thingy).

I do seem to recall that the encouragement we received was along the lines of, "never mind the ball, just get on with the game!"

From memory, the game was something to do with closing with the enemy and getting them, before they got you. Sound familiar to any?

There was also, i think, another game going on on the same pitch between other players who did have a ball, but we never got near that.
