Carberry was a bit like Lowry a"STAR " 10 at school and in the AIL playing against weak back rows .

His natural game when he got the ball was seek a gap and hope he had support to pass to.

At professional level the number one channel close to the ruck and maul is highly protected by the defence --gaps seldom exist . thus the ten is reduced to a game of kick or pass and for the latter your pass must be weighted consistent and sure a flabby weak pass sets up the receiver. And a good out half requires a sound kick and be able to vary the type at will with out telegraphing his play.

Unfortunately when playing at Pro level his game looks robotic and easy to read even Burns looks less robotic.

Look it up yourselves, can’t be bothered c & p.

Carbery didnt play 10 in school, he played 15 for Blackrock. He became a star playing 10 at AIL level for Clontarf.

We’re spared the risk of breaking him which would have been a bit embarrassing!

I stand corrected

But sometimes schools do make the right choice of position and Clubs exploit the enthusiasm of youth correctly realising as the player becomes recognised enthusiasm becomes insufficient and that the experience of the opposition will blunt its advantage and inexperience becomes exposed.

Anyway, please tell me the rumours regarding Lyttle aren't true

America, interesting - their season starts in a few weeks so if he is going there it would be 2024 season?

Lyttle going to MLR would surprise me, he’s a class player and would be a big loss to ulster, and IMO is better than a fair few other back 3 players around the provinces (not to mention england)

Very much agreed. He is one of our best finishers and should not be jettisoned. Big mistake.
