Grab a granny up there young Russ, once the Pimms kicks in. Should be a good spot for someone with a Maggie T fetish :thumleft:

Think this tournament has proved that the equal prize money for women is a bit of a joke.
Equal pay yes but since they only play 2 out of 3 sets it's not equal work.
Each of Federer and Murrays quarters lasted twice as long as both women's semis combined and doubled.

Don't get me wrong I won't lose much sleep over it but it does jar when people talk about equality when it clearly isn't.

Spot on Baz. Federer was out on his feet in the 5th set yesterday. Serena will complete the singles final the day and then rock up in the doubles final shortly after, probably without any discernible effect.

Even Claire Curran (ex GB Ireland Fed Cup) was saying she was more excited by the men's final than the women's.

Great to see a competitive first set at least.
Women's tennis badly needs a good competitive final.
Hopefully this continues but I sensed that Kerber needed to win the first set for that to continue.

Women's tennis currently lacks a really big rivalry like Navratilova/Evert or Seles/Graf.

Bit of a golden era for men's tennis with Federer/Nadal/Djokovic and possibly Murray.

Come on the gallant Scottish lad.

They have a very shrill variety of lout at tennis, whiny wee English bitches who can't shut up when folk are trying to win a small fortune.

Yep agreed mervyn.
Would go further and say they lack a bit of character.
Everyone would know the top woman's players but now Williams sisters asides they all tend to look and play the same.
Kind of like a set of Russian dolls.

Having said that Kerber is playing terrifically well right now.
As good a women's final I have seen in recent years certainly standard wise.

And having said that a 2 set victory in 81 minutes.
Anti-climax but fair play Serina she is a phenomenon.
Maybe tennis scouts should be combing the ghettos to unearth similar talent rather than limiting their searches to money people at yacht clubs.

The German played extremely well, probably better in the rallys, but couldn't cope with the phenomenal Williams serve, which got her out of jail a few times.
