Time wasting penalties

Penalties are a major source of time wasting

1 the decision to either to go for goal or touch

2 to getting the ball to the kicker

3 the slow walk to form a line out

4 the decision of the target for the throw

5 the small step to achieve a throw down your own line and ( then the linesman might ask you to step back )

Why pick on a kicker for slowing the kick ?

It’s a hobby horse of mine a penalty kicked into the 22 should be a defenders ball .

It would reduce the number of maul and grunt trys where nobody knows who scored and the Ref has to go to the TMO to confirm a try and then the ref has to go to the big screen and a discussion with his assistants

Referees them selves are possible the biggest time wasters on the pitch

With play on decisions where no meaningful advantage is possible ie frequently between the 22 s

And also the unfair advantage within the 22 where if the defending team actually win possession after a number of phases it is a pointless gain for defenders as the game is pulled back for a foul which was no great advantage to the defenders since they failed to gain possession and continued to defend .

If you want to identify time wasters look no further than the ref.

I thought Brace was doing OK until the somewhat bizarre incident concerning where your Slipper needs to be to stay onside.

NZ should keep Jordie Barrett at 12.

Assume now this is over Duane becomes available to us? He has been worked lightly so should be good to go.
I'd imagine he will be given another 2 weeks in SA and join up with the squad when we go down there?
