We don't do hiring cars though.
Lyon is probably slightly handier, it's about two hours drive from Clermont. At the minute you have to fly out to there from Dublin which adds some of the saved time back on, but Easyjet are to start flying there (infrequently) from December, so depending on the schedule it might definitely be the best option.
Definitely maybe!

you'll just have to Roll with It!

1st 2 rounds in November (15-17 and 22-24), otherwise same as before.

Can fly to Lyon and get a train, but hiring a car from Lyon airport to Clermont is better. Trains in France very good North to South, not so good West to East which is an issue if going from Lyon to Clermont. 2.5 hours Lyon to Clermont, 3.5 Paris to Clermont via train.

Neill, have you ever seen either me or my wife in a fit way to drive a car?!

Possibility of a Bath v Ulster and Bristol v Brive double header.

Driving in France can be interesting. Lucky we have one or two guys who actually like doing it! Stick to the train.

If we get Clermont for the double header there'd also be the possibility of travelling through Lyon on the weekend of La Fete des Lumiéres, which I'm told is well worth a look.

3 good rugby weekends coming up. Had visions of being put in Pool 4 with Saracens and Racing 92

Ryan Air have twice a week flights from Stansted at the moment but nothing showing after Oct. Air France fly from Paris and Amsterdam which provide some connections from Belfast. Perhaps the most interesting is to take a break on the way and go Dublin to Porto and Porto to Clermont both with Ryan Air.

Dublin to Lyon is usually the chosen route for those on the island of Ireland for the Clermont weekend with your choice of car hire/train once you get to Lyon.

Can fly to Paris from Belfast and get the train also. There can be Belfast Lyon flights during ski season.

Some interesting food for thought - thanks chaps.

The train from London worked fine last time but it was a fairly long day.

Went to Antwerp on the train last weekend. Kate Silverton was on our Eurostar back from Brussels.

Come to think of it, I saw Alan Davies checking in at St Pancras when we went to the Racing 92 game.

2 cracking away games for me and LittlePoster to go to this season: always enjoyed Hairyqueens (even in the snow) as a venue and friendly crowd and only an hour’s travel. Bath will be a new one for me. Might see if MrsPoster and MissPoster want to come and feck off to see the sights during the match.
