Wondered what you were going to say there.

It bodes well for the season when we can potentially put out 2 “1st XV’s” with different players. Strength in depth at last?

On paper that probably should be the case but it all depends on attitude on the night! Here’s hoping! :fleg:
Hope is not a strategy.

Well Glasgow, on paper at any rate, are worse this season. So about right.

It is important that this season Ulster not only win games butthat they overcome the tendency to relax when they score 4 tries and a bonus point. This is going to be a difficult competition to navigate and points difference could be a deciding Factor.
They must not only win but win convincingly and be as ruthless as Leinster.

Comfortable win. Tradition would dictate that the BP will be hard to secure.

However this is 2021/22 - You cannot predict rugby matches, because red (or even yellow) cards will determine the outcome of a great number of matches.

Hate to pour water on the fire of enthusiasm but the result depends on how two teams play not one .

Frequently a weak team on paper performs better than expected because the performance represents not the value of the individual but the sum of parts which may exceed the sum of the each individual parts.

Similarly a side which looks good and should be maybe rattled not just by the opposition but decisions of a referee .

If Ulster can keep their focus and maintain their concentration then they should win -- lose those either individually or collectively and the result comes a lottery.

10 is the glaring weakness.

Good to see Doak on the bench, massive season for him.
Ah here, can't agree with that. Burns is our starting 10 and deservedly so. We see glimpses of a bright future for Lowry and he'll get his chances but Burns is starting on merit for now. The weakness(es) we have are in the 2nd row and back row, but I expect them to do enough. I'd love to see Timoney carry on his run of good form.

It's good to see Bradley Roberts get the nod at hooker too. He busted a gut in the pre season friendlies and was one of if not our best forward. He definitely earned his spot and if he carries that form throughout the season, he will be a hard man for Herring and Andrews to shift.

Now we just need this rain to dry off!

Looking at the team, the bench those players who were not picked and the injured cannot help but think the strength in depth we desired for many years is beginning to appear.
