Interesting to hear Henderson put in the spot about his contract situation, not sure what to take from that:

For all the gnashing of teeth over POM and stander, hendo is in the strongest negotiating position of them all. He is a nailed on starter for ireland and I fully expect him to sign a national contract till after the world cup in 2019.

Trying to play it cagey but looked like he wants a decent offer to stay. His last offer was perhaps at age 22/23 so probably not huge, a decent lift and he'll stay I would think. Toner getting to the top of the hill if not over it, they'd be crazy to lose him, he'd be mad to go and get flogged elsewhere, potentially shortening his career.

They should give him Chuck's salary & tie it down for 4years.

Good idea regarding Piutau's salary. We can't afford not to hold on to big Bambi.
He's really maturing as a player and as a leader.

I'm sure the FIRFU would be happy with us using the Piutau funds. That, however, may likely need to be spent on a 10. If the FIRFU do not stump up for their best forward (HENDO) then he will go to Bristol with my blessing.

I thought those funds no longer existed

He's 25 and a nailed on starter at the World Cup.

On the strength of that interview, he's a better rugby player than he is a poker player.

To be honest Henderson ‘s Off field opportunities are better in Ulster than anywhere else —big fish in a small pond the only player who might threaten him being Stockdale

. Bowe ,Trimble , Best and Henry are coming to end of their shelf life and some have blotted the paper .

Secondly being only married 6 months a move abroad may not appeal to him

PoM on the other hand has reached his peak value and Munster suffers because the Best Off field offers are in Dublin and not Cork or Limerick .

I expect the maximum term of any Central contract to be 3 years and PoM will not attract the same offers in 3 years time Henderson provided he stays free of injury will get even better offers then .

But the fact is I can’t see Henderson’s agent accepting a contract which would be substantially inferior to PoM, so IRFU are between a rock and a hard place .

Wise words rum. In short, POM is replaceable but Hendo is not.
