I read an interesting article on Ulster at https://dementedmole.com/2021/06/28/don ... n-2021-22/. Of note was the idea to get the best out of Timony at 8 you could play a lock at 6 to add ballast to the back row.. He was advocating Treadwell or Izzy but Sheridan might fit the bill perfectly, he looks very powerful at 19, has a high work rate and does the nuts and bolts of forward play very well. Leaving Timony to use his athleticism elsewhere. The article is pretty good- essentially for success Ulster need to go all out attack, where I think we are heading anyway.

Ulster will have to think outside the box if another signing isn't happening.

No player heights included but you can just make a guess or go with what you feel it should be.

Not much to argue with in that article- a pretty decent analysis of Ulster as is and moving forward. Thanks for posting it!👍

A lot of it is quite nuts but Treadwell at 6 isn't the worst idea I've ever heard. He has always been known for his speed so he is a "mobile" lock. Having him at 6 might take a bit of pressure off what is an otherwise quite lightweight back row. We all would have liked Henderson at 6 for a long time but that ship sailed years ago - he is a dyed in the wool lock now. If nothing else you'd have to say it would be bound to improve the scrum, lineout and maul.

To me the 6 and 7 are more important in helping to lock out the scrum than the 8. The number of times u see a prop being screwed over whilst the flanker is just lightly bound and more worried about when the ball is out is crazy. Timoney is a very mobile 8 so we need a bigger 6 to take those one out carries that marcel did for us.

Thought that too. England beating us in the pack, also don't think the ref is penalising England for slowing ball down lying on our side. Game is there to be won, but pack need to somehow front up.
Like the look of our open side have to say, number 8 is a class player, and Doak still the best player on the pitch.

He didn't appear to give a warning of a yellow card. He is also allowing the English to pin players in, not making it possible to roll away.

Very big English side. Ireland probably lucky it's only 7 nil.
