Should we have kept him?

Re: Seymour
Would he have stayed to be a bench sitter behind AAT and Tommy?
Never wrestle with a pig. You end up covered in muck and the pig loves it.

Re: Seymour
...and done away with who ..Bowe?? Trimble?? Seymour is playing really well now having been given and taken the opportunities he got in Haggisland - the reality is he would not have got those opportunities if he had stayed here and thus would probably not have progressed to the player he is now. I for one am happy to stick with Bowe and Trimble as first choice wings and would not see the Nashville Cowboy replacing either of them even now!! Ne regrete rein!!MCBwinwinwin wrote:Should we have kept him?

Hope is not a strategy.
Re: Seymour
Every player has the right to try at the highest level he is capable of Seymour would never have made the Irish side not because he is not capable just that there are so many as good at the moment in Ireland . In order to get on the Scottish team he needed to be playing regularly before a Scottish coach and public . He made the right choice at the right time .

Re: Seymour
Seymour made a very smart decision early in his career. He was highly rated by McGlocks but without knowing the details it's hard to know but I'm sure he wasn't discarded. I'd say he like many others wasn't prepared to stay and play second fiddle. It has always been an issue for us in keeping a squad of players. Leinster have managed it because of their success and the fact that guys didn't want to leave because they got to train with their heroes like BOD.
It would have been great to keep Seymour but more likely he didn't want to stay. I think we can still be proud as he is a product of the system. Unless he is scoring tries against us of course.

I don't mind giving to those less fortunate than ourselves

Re: Seymour
I agree with you both I was just wondering what the general consensus is. At the time I felt that he showed quality but with Trimble there and bowe on the way his chances were limited. I think gilroy was also showing more promise at that stage. Now I think he has pushed on past gilroy and I wouldn't like to be splitting the difference between him and Trimble.

Re: Seymour
Any body else think that he is showing that he at least learned something from Andrew Trimble whilst he was at Ulster with those interceptions mid field.
My understanding was that it was his decision to go to Glasgow as he reckoned he stood a better chance of being capped. In Scotland than Ireland.
He was one that I was sorry to see go but you can't keep them all.
Nagusa is another one who perhaps we should have persevered with a bit longer as he seems to have flourished in theTop 14 eventually.

Re: Seymour
Seymour is what Glasgow and Scotland need, not what Ulster and Ireland need
Payne to play 13 for Leinster or 15 for Ulster
