Mulligan just tweeted about it, Bell off to Gloucester and we are bringing in former Waratahs defence coach Joe Barakat.

It seems to me that this is a Kiss signing. Hopefully his revolution has begun.

Could not have been signed without a kiss of approval alright. He is the boss man from October.

It looks like they were both coaching at Waratahs at the same time for about 2-3 years, so reckon you could be right.

Why so? Ulster's defence against Leicester last weekend was superb. What has Bell done wrong?

And the week before we shipped 60 points.

One match either way doesn't prove anyone's point.

Our defence all season has probably been the best part of our game. Bell was the most competent of all our assistant coaches. I know nothing about the new guy but a fresh face and outlook will hopefully do no harm if it's someone Kiss has experience of.

Got there before me.

Every coach's time comes to an end.

Good luck at Glaws Dinger.

We have done well out of this, thanks Humph.

Bell seemed to be pretty well regarded as a defence coach.

I wonder if the new guy will be coming in as a defence coach (given Kiss himself coaches defence...) or if he will also be looking after the forwards. I see from wikipedia he is currently set piece, forwards, attack and defence coach with the Toshiba Brave Lupus (gotta love those Japanese team names... )

Set piece, forwards, attack and defence sounds like pretty well everything to me but the Japanese teams may not have the specialist coaching teams there are in Europe.

Bell was offered the Glaws gig last season but was stymied by FC and (ironically) Humps.

Bell was/is good and I wish him well....but as has been said elsewhere all coaches have a optimum shelf life and change will be good for all concerned.
If only everyone had Neil McMillan's dedication....
