3rd sentence down.
What’s the fecking point of that then? We’re writing next season off already...
Calm down Legs, there is every chance that some tw@t somewhere leaked this, Bryn clearly indicated a few weeks on Saturday and the SRU are venting their anger at the leak. They would have wanted to announce the replacement in their coaching team before Ulster announced the signing.

Odds are SRU will extract some money now for early release, so some tw@t has cost either UR or the FIRFU some cash, but it will be sorted, really makes no sense for it to be any other way.

Or maybe Dan is stamping his feet. And if they're hoking about looking that hopefully rules out rumours of Jared's demise.

Either of them could replace Shanananananana-nana with no discernible downturn in playing standards.
DUI and drugs remain OK with the IRFU so is being a lying Ashton..

From the sound of it here we are all very happy with the announcement and the few season ticket holders that haven't as yet purchased will soon be doing so if they haven't already.

Nope! Still not renewing and won’t be until Logan is gone.

Dave wrote:Ulster Rugby can confirm that Dan McFarland will take the reins as Head Coach next season on a three-year contract.

The highly-rated Englishman is currently working with the Scottish national team as Assistant Coach to Gregor Townsend.

He made a seamless transition from playing to coaching at Connacht in 2006, taking up the Forwards Coach role before becoming their Assistant Coach in 2010.

During his time with Connacht he also held Head Coach positions with Emerging Ireland and the Ireland Wolfhounds.

McFarland took over as Assistant Coach at Glasgow Warriors in 2015 and he worked alongside Townsend before the pair took up posts with the national side in May 2017.

Commenting on his move to Belfast, Dan said:

"I am really excited that I will be taking on the Ulster Head Coach role. I know firsthand from my years visiting with Connacht and Glasgow the passion and fervour that makes playing in front of Ulster fans so special.

"It's a club with a great history and I welcome the challenge of being a part of their future."

Commenting on the appointment, Bryn Cunningham, Ulster Rugby's Operations Director said:

"Dan was our number one candidate so we're obviously very happy to have secured his services for the next three years. Dan's CV is hugely impressive and he commands great respect within the game.

"He enjoyed successful spells with Connacht and Glasgow, and the fact that Gregor brought him into the Scotland set-up speaks volumes for how highly he rates him.

"Our priority in this process was to identify and recruit the best possible candidate first and foremost. With the confirmation of Dan's appointment, we will be announcing at least one further addition to the coaching team in the near future to ensure that we have a strong unit in place in advance of pre-season."

Shane Logan, Ulster's Chief Executive, added:

"I'd like to congratulate Bryn and our Professional Game Board for conducting such a thorough process that has led to this appointment.

"We have worked closely with the IRFU and are very pleased with the outcome."
Taking the words of ‘The Invisible One’- Bryn is responsible for the appointment and if it goes wrong then he is responsible.
As usual I did what the IRFU wanted- but then that’s is always the case!

In terms of the January 2019 start I clearly have not learned a hard lesson after waiting 18 months for Les Kiss to start so no change there!

If I said 5 years to rebuild before I reckon it’s now 6.

Ulster and their ‘visionary’ CEO will never learn.
18 month wait for Kiss- disaster
But Shane does what Dublin 4 tells him- anything to keep his job.
Said it before - would Leinster or Munster wait months for a new coach? No way- and rightly so as they have the balls to challenge Dublin 4.
+ if it goes wrong blane Bryn and the Professional Board-( yes the same PB whose Chairman instructed Logan to attend the 2nd Season Ticket Holder Briefing which he duly ignored)
What a shambles

I have read reports that Dan was the Head Coach of the Wolfhounds and Emerging Ireland and elsewhere that he was part of the coaching set up... is this more window dressing or can someone confirm what he coached?
