Stena Line - Rosslare - Cherbourg with a dog
We have travelled this route a few times but this summer will be different. This will be our 1st time travelling to France with our dog. Can’t find much online about people’s experiences using this ferry route with their dog.
We were offered a kennel, which we’ve booked, or to leave our pooch in the car for the journey. Anyone any experience they can share? Do & donts ? Are the kennels clean? Can you get access to them throughout the journey or are times restricted?
Any hints or tips would be appreciated.

Have never been on the ferry never mind with a dog but would think they would have to be clean and secure to meet the animal welfare and health regulations which are probably tighter than those for humans.Bring Humph On!! wrote:We have travelled this route a few times but this summer will be different. Have you dog chipped and rabies vaccinated, wormed etc and some way to prove it ?

Have a look at the dog lovers NI page... Reading bad things about Stena and the kennels are next to all the trucks apparently. Only getting this information second hand though.

Thanks Rooster - yes all vaccinations will or are in place & doggie passport will be in place.
Thanks Sham - I’ll have a look. Doesn’t sound great.
I’m not sure Dave - if she mentions anything I’ll be sure to let you know.

Please seek positive consent
Or Gerrys lawyer might get involved

She seemed happy to go ahead with the injections, followed me to the vets on two occasions, she didn’t complain when other dogs joined us in the vets .... if she withdraws consent now then so be it, we’ll get her looked after but if she decides after the trip that she didn’t actually really want to go on the trip then what do you do?
I’ll probably never be allowed another dog again!!

Rooster we may return to kennels in future holidays but she’s coming with us camping in Dordogne this summer ... it may turn into a disaster but we’re gonna try it this time.
In saying that ... not much positivity about the ferry experience.
