The local media picking up on the long term chat of Ravenhill going to a plastic pitch. They say it is being considered. Is it a done deal?

Petrie said back in December that they were looking at it. Probably a cheaper option than undersoil heating. It’ll still freeze over though.

Indeed Glasgow had to move a European game to the Library.

Supposed to be installed last summer but company doing it couldn’t get it done before the start of the season.
Can’t understand why it’s says ‘possibility of changing’. It’s happening!

By the time they employ more physios and buy more treatment tables for all the ballixed knees, the cost will be insurmountable.

Worst idea in a long line of bad ideas at UR. I HATE plastic pitches.

I like to be able to smell the grass when I’m at the game.
Can they give the plastic a fragrance or maybe spray something over the East Terrace?

Yeah it’s happening - I heard that Petrie have a presentation to the players, and when some of them tried to say that they weren’t that keen and were concerned about injuries and stuff, he completely shut them down.. which didn’t go down well. But a bit of a fait accompli.
In fairness it probably does make sense, and I don’t think that theres any clear evidence of increased injuries on the newest surfaces

In fairness some of the artificial pitches seem to be ok, dragons etc, just depends on what type they go for.

I have every faith that UR will have done meticulous research and make a money-no-object decision based on whatever is the best option...
