There was a bit of rabbit in the headlights for ulster last night which led to us not being able to execute and think clearly. Summed up by cooney's snapped drop goal attempt in the 1st half. We needed a lot to go our way which included a sympathetic ref, which we didn't get. Carly probably fancies himself as Barnes replacement as the top English ref and was determined to show no home favour. Fair enough but this can also mean those 50/50 calls go the other way.
We can have no real complaints however, toulouse are a class apart and I have a feeling this is their year.

Well and truly minced in every aspect of game. Scoreline flattered us … would have been 60 plus only ST took it easy last 30 mins. Oul burns was milking the limelight all week after ONE decent performance … doing this gangster type thing that PJ used to do. Just looks like a complete tool now like the rest of them. Lowry and Balacoune wtf has happened them both? Brutal. You know when you are bringing on the likes of Rea, O’Connor and Warwick you’re done. Really disappointing atmosphere last night it was like a morgue at times. So many d!ckheads solely out on the sauce. Not getting a losing bonus point when it was practically handed to you on a plate with two set pieces 5m out! Absolutely criminal. Not that a point would have made any difference we’ll get duffed at Quinn’s next week. That’ll be us in the Parker pen and barring us somehow winning it (we won’t) that should be DMF gone. I wee day out in he Tottenham Hotspur stadium would be nice right enough.

As disappointing as the loss was it was a privilege to see Toulouse at their best with Dupont again destroying us like 2 years ago. The guy is a freak of nature.

Does a racing 92 win today effectively consign us to challenge Cup?
Would need a BP win at quins without them or bath getting anything as well as overturning any points differential.

TBF, Cooney was practicing drop goals in the warm up - something you don't often see now - and he was landing them pre-match. Perhaps a tactic dreamt up to try to take any points if and when available?

Maybe the problem was he was practicing at the other end?

Agreed, ref showed us no favours. Nearly all the 50:50s became 40:60, but as already conceded, Toulouse didn't come to lose, and would have beaten us even with a homer ref. Got the imprression that he took a little bit of joy from having the crowd on his back and made him even less likely to give us some decisions. Barnes he ain't though, and has a long way to go if he ever wants to aspire to that level.
I'm not arguing -
I'm just explaining why I'm right

Yes but that looked likely as soon the fixtures came out,

Toulouse had nine foreign players in the 23 yesterday and we’re stuck with half a squad of journeymen because they’re IQ even though they ain’t ever going to play for Ireland.

It makes no sense.

Humph needs to change the rules.

If Bath win, could do us a favour but we will need to beat Racing even without a bonus pt to stay in the top 4 / qualify for round16 even if Racing beat Cardiff.

But do we want to stay in the Cup when we could do better in the Bic pen challenge shield?

Latest from Jackman.

"There is a rumour that Nathan Doak may throw his hand at playing outhalf next season and he would be a valuable addition to the outhalf depth chart."

So the bath comeback means a win next week gets us into the last 16.

Doak to 10 and new NIQ 9? We still have a space available and hopefully Humph will relax the NIQ rules a little...

Would have been easier had it been out of our hands!

Possibility that Quins won’t be that bothered but unlikely cos they’ll finish second with a five pointer.

Doak to 10 would be an improvement on Burns…. But Cooney was also pish last night.

So Bath have beaten Racing. I'll be very happy to be in the Biro pen in a few weeks. Toulouse were great last night but they're not unique and, if, by magic, we do stay in the Champions Cup, it'll be a very short and unhappy stay. At least we could give the second division cup a good lash.
