UAFC very slow?!

Post by ColinS »

Website seems to be running very very slow on my computer.
Using Firefox, just deleted all internet history and no improvements.

Anyone else with a similar problem?

Yes 'on and off' is about right.

Some (perhaps) strange things however.

Over the last few days it has been stuttering between crawl and stopped.

I suspect that double postings (here) are an indication of when it is extremely slow.

There have been times in the last few days when movement between Forum pages have taken much, much longer than on other similar (almost identical) sites at the same time.

My observation has been that it is only the Forum giving the problem as other pages have been much faster.

Number of users does not seem to be contributary.

Yes Cables, another sleepless night! :(
And it's not good either, just found out the girl I'm after has a 'sort of boyfriend'. Which is, well, good for me..

Anyway, the website has been start-stop lately, any way the website runners will fix this?

Seems to be a server problem Cables, it should not be as slow at this time of night as it is a UK based server, unless the whole darned country is awake and surfing
Bossman informed yesterday, which was really the day before yesterday as it is now tomorrow the day after the day I thought it was :? :?

Glad to hear that you told Boss that his pass can be slow. Not much wrong with the rest that he delivers however.

I see MT is aboard this morning - first from 17 May 2006.

Forget the weemin Colzo.

Exchanges between Colzo and myself on another thread convince me that there is a problem with 'speed' even at this time of the morning.

No funny remarks please!

If I had been 'reporting' on a live game (as I have many times) it would have seemed like a delayed report!

Over to you Boss.

There is definitely something up with the server(s) most noticeable on the forum but affects other pages too. It is definitely not a "peak time" phenomenon.

Were they able to provide any explanation why access was so poor on Tuesday that most of us gave up in disgust? At one point a post that I thought had got lost in the ether finally appeared over 30 minutes after posting. I had even been able to view the forum in between posting it and and its eventual appearance so I assumed quite wrongly that I had fecked up somehow or at least that it had never reached the server.

Perhaps they should be renamed "slowhosts"

the official reply!!
The issues reported should not have an impact on the resolving time of your website.

I have tested the domain uafc.co.uk on 3 serperate and independant connections, on one of the connections tested it was slow but was not returning any errors.

I am afraid that on our shared hosting servers, you are sharing the resources with other users and from time to time other users can use these resources unfairly due to badly written or malicious scripts.

When this happens, as soon as we are aware of a problem we will warn the offenders of their unfair usage and if it continues we will move them to another server or suspend them.

Obviously this can have a detrimental effect on the speed of the server and on other users which is why we monitor our severs closely to stop this from happening.

Unfortunately we cannot predict as and when this will happen and I cannot guarantee that it will not happen in the future due to the nature of shared hosting. As previously stated however we do act as soon as we become aware of a problem.
they go on to recommend getting a dedicated server!!!!
