Re: Great Ulster support in Glasgow

alright, in summary those of us of sound mind and conscience could do without people doing the following - booing opposition players - swearing too much - singing songs that are too 'non-inclusive' but it's an acceptable price to pay for a growing support base and a massive away crowd. (i suspect th...

Re: Trouble adjusting to the new reality...

Read this: Thornley on the Irish provinces in the HEC over the weekend, "Three out of four ain't bad but still plenty to improve upon" Despite invoking the 4 Irish provinces in the title, 933 words and not only is there no summary of the Ulster match, there is no mention - literally none ...

Re: Castres to lose coaches?

I'm in Paris today and picked up a mention of Castres in l'Equipe - apparently they have called a press conference this afternoon, ostensibly just to talk about the trip to Belfast, but everyone is expecting Labit and his asst to announce that they are leaving the club... Not sure of the context, b...

Re: Sky to Lose Premiership and Heineken Cup Rights

There's a hatchet job by Times journo Mark Souster on PRL CEO Mark McCafferty in today's paper. I only have the paper copy so can't paste in but says that "it is understood" that a clear majority of AP clubs want rid of him. However apparently a unanimous vote is required. Apparently PRL ...

Re: Sky to Lose Premiership and Heineken Cup Rights

They may not necessarily plan to set up their own European competition (although this may be in the background as a threat) but to walk into the ERC meeting next week waving the BT contract saying look what we've got, a chunk of this can be yours too, and hope that one or more countries then side w...

Re: Sky to Lose Premiership and Heineken Cup Rights

So Prem Rugby wanted to put pressure on ERC to reform the competition. They couldn't sell ERC rights but they have put themselves in a position to say to ERC "we've already sold the rights to a breakaway competition so you'd better do as we say" They obviously couldn't establish that posit...
