Shane Logan was on the Today programme at 0725 this morning talking of a new mood of compromise and a renewed future for the Heineken Cup. Catch it on iplayer. No real substance to it though.

Thomas made the same claim in nov 2012 and prl said the contract only links them to a European competition, not the Heineken. It'll be up to the lawyers to decide who is right, I imagine. >flog

It's a cracking deal. This is the start of the pro12 really establishing itself as one of three high quality leagues in Europe. Sky's validation of the concept will eventually stop the Welsh moaning. If they can just hold the structure together in Wales we might finally get some certainty in Europea...

Is there any reason to think they wouldn't give other games the Red Button treatment, as they do for the Heineken? It works for them there. Cost? They still need to book satellite trucks, TV crew and all the other facilities for red button and there are 22 rounds of games for the regular season. ye...
