Re: This is the house that Humph built, y'all!

Is the point not that it was a "ramble" because D/L was mooting the various points made by both sides of the Humph divide without necessarily wishing to pass a clear judgement either way himself? That would certainly be my view-arguments presented without firmly stating which camp he is i...

Re: This is the house that Humph built, y'all!

It's interesting sometimes how the thing that you actually write, and the thing that some people read is so completely at odds... Not in every case, and thanks to BR for saving me the bother of doing a chapter and verse rebuttal for the benefit of all the guys who seem to think it was some underhand...

Saw Shadow Dancer as well over the weekend as well. Decent enough, very low key. I thought the duration (1hr 40) was about right.

Re: Childhood Sporting Heroes

Like wise there are older Man City and Chelsea fans about from the late 60s. Doesn't really work with Man Ure and the Red stars because of their level of success over the past 40 years. Kind of, but I was a Man U fan growing up, and actually all through primary school I was pretty much on my own, a...

Re: New Jersey defects

actually funny you should mention it, the younger brother picked up a new home jersey, which looks the part and everything, but I noticed that the quality of the stitching on the neck was rubbish.. as it happens I think he was charged the supporter jersey price for the test shirt, so probably would ...

Some thoughts on squad depth

it's commonplace around here to see a lack of 'squad depth' blamed in part for under-performance in the league last year - I'm not quite sure I follow the logic.. Surely if we lack squad depth, this means that we concentrate more gametime in our core of top players - who are clearly capable of good ...

Re: Academy / sub-Academy

fuzzy, nonplussed and rupi - thanks for that, I get it now.. I'd guess that most boys in the U-18s and maybe even U-19s will be with their schools for most of the year training there etc for the most part, with the occasional Ulster/Ire camp - what about boys who leave school but don't get an academ...

Academy / sub-Academy

Does anyone know what is meant by 'sub-academy'? I see it referred a lot, but don't have a clear picture in my mind of what it entails, or how formal a structure it is.. And re the academy, what is the extent of integration with the first team in terms of training etc? For example, does the academy ...
