FIRA Tournament Irish Schools.
Despite an ordinary opening game against Portugal, Irish Schools have won their semi final contest against France, 22-20. This sets them up for a final against England. We are the holders of this trophy . Whilst only one Ulster player is in this squad, there must be some talent from the other Provin...

Re: Ulster Schools Rugby Team of the year.
To extend my previous comments to Ulsterham, I have just seen the Provisional training list for Ulster Schools Under 18 group. It has 53 players named and they represent 22 schools . We only have 31/32 affiliated schools, so this seems to be a fair spread to me.

Re: Ulster Schools Rugby Team of the year.
Ulsterham, in response to your comments re. the selection of the Ulster Schools team, I have not watched a great deal of Schools rugby up until the Semis and Finals, so I can only make this comment to you. It has been a perennial criticism of Schools Selection that the team is selected mainly from t...

Re: Ulster Schools Rugby Team of the year.
Think this is a relevant thread, especially having noticed that only 2 Ulster schoolboys are selected into the Irish Schools panel of 26. This is ridiculously and indeed unacceptably low. Now I'm making absolutely no comment whatsoever on selection as I am not in any position to do so. The Coach,one...

Gareth Anscombe.
Auckland Blues beat the Blue Bulls 29-23. All the Auckland points were scored by a certain Gareth Anscombe, 2 converted tries, and 5 penalties. Just thought I would mention it.

Re: Belfast Harlequins
As everybody knows Harlequins were the amalgamation of North and Collegians. At the point of the amalgamation, I think they had 6 teams. There was a presumed expectancy that they would automatically cream off the best of Campbell College and Methodist College and anybody else they could get their ha...

Re: TRANSFER RUMOURS!!
Headline . "Daniel Bowden leaves London Irish at end of the season, to "join one of the big sides in Europe " . Whilst the speculation is that he will join fellow Kiwi Thomas the tank Waldrom at Leicester, I was wondering did the good DR Dave find that he has an Irish Grandfather ? Su...

BB King in Queens snack Bar may well be around 1990, but he also played in the Waterfront on Sept 24th 1999.

In reply to Darkside, yes I was present at The Hendrix gig, first show and opened window in Whitla Hall to try to climb in for second show. Unfortunately too narrow for my corpulent figure , so listened without vision !!

Re: What are you listening to?
Too old to rock and roll but too young to die !! A little info on two serious concerts in Belfast. As a previous poster stated, Jimi Hendrix played the Whitla Hall Queens on the 27th November 1967. This I believe was his 25th birthday and he was presented with a cake on stage. There were 2 shows tha...

Re: Saxons v Wolfhounds
Deja vu !! Just spotted on BBC Sport that our old friend Delon Armitage got arrested in a Torquay nightclub after the game. He has been released on Police bail, waiting Police investigations. He has been withdrawn from the Saxons squad. When will this guy ever learn ?

Re: What are you listening to?
Couldn't agree more with posts about "Elbow". I got into them late and bought all the albums in a hurry. Also had the pleasure of seeing them live at Belsonic a few months ago. I would rate it as one of the best live shows here for a while and I'm old enough to have seen Zeppelin and Hendr...

Re: Ulster players returning from the RWC
Agree with ATH, there is no chance whatsoever of Best and Ferris playing as they will not be permitted under the IRFU player management programme. This will apply to all Irish contracted players who played as much as these two.

Lions Test Squad.
Now that Irish interest has disappeared from the World Cup, what about another bout of fantasising ? On the evidence of the performances to date at this Tournament what would the Lions starting XV be ? Here's a shout anyway to set the ball rolling.
