Re: Squad for next year

Surely Touhy is a shoe in for the world cup squad? Probably one spot between Donnacha Ryan, Mike McCarthy, Tuohy, and Kevin McLaughlin Even though Ryan is probably head of the list as Kidney's favourite, on form he's the worst of the 4 McLaughlin has come into form of late as he recovers from his l...

Re: TRANSFER RUMOURS!!

You'd have to ask the government in Dublin about that porterbelly. I don't know how that works. The Irish government did put some money towards Croke Park didn't they? Similar sort of situation. They are too skint at the moment mind you... I hope rumours about us signing more NIQ players are just t...

Re: TRANSFER RUMOURS!!

Should Munster, Leinster and Connacht be entitled to grants south of the border as Ulster got there's in the north for the redevelopment of Ravenhill ? Or does it not work that way ?

Re: Ulster v Connacht Positives and Negatives!

Yer doing an awful lot of complaining about the ref for a team that won. The 2nd try might not have happened if the ref had stopped play like he should have for all the injured players. We may have got away with a few things but the ref didn't exactly hand us our 16 points. We're no mugs anymore an...

Re: Ulster v Connacht

The fact is if we were able to keep the 4 lads next season and with some of the additions being made this season we'd be looking very good, and we would be a top 6 Magners League side. We're losing our 2 most potent attacking weapons in Carr and Cronin, our tighthead who locks the scrum in Hagan an...

Re: Ulster v Connacht

Connacht look to be going places under Elwood. They have made some very shrewd signings for next season and I expect them to surprise a few teams. Regarding Johnny O'Concrete he did what he has been doing for years - making a tackle and then pinching the ball. The trouble is he shouldn't have been ...

Re:

Anyone see what went on between Ruan and the Connacht no.4 before half time? The Beeb didn't get any shots of it but I believe the no.4 dived/ feigned getting hurt by Ruan? Ruan gave him a shove with palms of his hands and the result was a performance worthy of an Oscar as the Westie fell over We h...

Re: Ulster v Connacht

Proud Connacht man tonight. Well done Ulster, probably deserved it on the balance. We aren't the Connacht of old this season. At 14-3 the old Connacht would have wilted. Felt our back row was alot more streetwise at the breakdown, Johnny O'Connor had a tremendous game for us as he has done all seaso...

Re: Ulster v Connacht

Ofisa injured so Mul slots in at 8, he's not an 8 though, he's a pure 6. Can't help that until George Naoupu comes back next year. Mike McCarthy is getting a chance to show what he can do at 6 as the Irish management will want to bring a blindside/2nd row to the world cup. Donnacha Ryan/Dan Tuohy/Mc...

Re: TRANSFER RUMOURS!!

Was down staying in the "West" last weekend and chatted to several boys in the know. Two thiongs of interest came out. Firstly Carr is definitely gone, although they did not know where to? Secondly there didn't seem to be much angst about McComish leaving! View was he was not sure of star...

NZRU not happy with Ireland

Rugby: Irish jig is up By Gregor Paul 5:30 AM Sunday Apr 17, 2011 Irish rugby is managing to defy the country's broken economy to become the latest serious threat to New Zealand's player base. The offers made to John Afoa and Jared Payne to join Ulster were at never-before-seen remuneration levels. ...
