Re: B&I Lions 2013 Thread

forget the amateur era relic that is the Lions. I really thing it's time to do just that. It's a tour too far in the modern era. Let everybody have 2 months off and get back to the real rugby in August. As this Lions tour progresses, I coming closer to that conclusion. What benefit is it to the hom...

Re: B&I Lions 2013 Thread

Again, if the All Blacks toured Ireland, wouldn't you want to see the Ulster, Leinster, Munster and Connacht first XVs try and make history? Or would you rather watch the provincial A sides getting cricket scores put on them? I'd be quite happy for Munster, Leinster and Connacht to have a crack, bu...

Re: B&I Lions 2013 Thread

There was little to be gained from yesterday's game, but I still think it's nice to have amateur players being given a once in a lifetime chance to play against an international standard team. Imagine if the All Blacks came to Ireland and played against a couple of club sides. The ABs wouldn't gain ...

Re: B&I Lions 2013 Thread

Visser is 10 times the player of Zebo??? Visser is a good player, but too 1-dimensional for my liking. Zebo on the other hand has better vision, a better work-ethic, better footwork, a good left boot and better hand-ball skills (that's my opinion). You might say he's poor defensively, but no more so...

Re: B&I Lions 2013 Thread

Sad for Tommy. He was sure to be in the test team.

I just hope Gatland calls up Zebo, because it that chube Ashton gets the call, I really don't know if I could genuinely want the Lions to win.

Re: B&I Lions vs. The Barbarians

Any chance that Farrell will be (imo deservedly) cited? I was hoping he'd get a ban too, purely so that another 10 could be flown out to back up Sexton. I'd really like to see Wilko out there. He may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I really like his attitude and he would set a great example to th...

Re: B&I Lions vs. Western Force

I hope to see Tuilagi and BOD pair up. I think they could be an awesome partnership.

I'd also like to see a backrow of 6-Croft, 7-Warburton and 8-SOB (think he could be a right menace).

Re: B&I Lions vs. The Barbarians

Had to laugh at how Delon Armitage got booed by the crowd in the semi-final and final. Does he not wonder why nobody likes him?

Re: American football dead ball rule.

Might work if you had one of the officials on the side line concentrating solely on the defensive line (checking that players are on-side), whilst the other concentrates on the offensive line. The on-field referee could then concentrate more on the tackle-area, without having to look away to ensure ...

Re: B&I Lions vs. The Barbarians

Hard to see what Farrell offers that Dan Biggar or Toby Flood can't.

Don't like his petulant nature. The clapping for Brits' yellow showed alot of class

Re: France: no longer a place for French Internationals

When I said professionalism will ruin rugby, I meant that certain aspects of what I think makes it great are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Will it always be a game that caters for players of all shapes and sizes? Just look at the current Lions squad compared to the 1997 outfit. The back line,...

Re: France: no longer a place for French Internationals

Did anyone read Vern Cotter's comments? http://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/cotter-clermont-lost-sexton-to-racings-money-232813.html He was quite damning of Parra and particularly James. Hard to see how that'll pan out for next season. Maybe he wants fired so he can start focussing on WC 2015. As for...

Re: Cowboy's Report and Summer Homework

You don't top the league and reach a final without doing something right. After Christmas, injuries and international duties derailed us somewhat. We just need to improve a little in certain areas, such as our accuracy and the breakdown. There's no need to reinvent the wheel.

We could do with George Hook, Peter de Villiers, Martin Johnson and the like on here for some sound opinion.

Say, whatever became of Hugh Farrelly?
