Re: Ospreys v Ulster MoTM?

We could rename this MoPT runner up. We just assume that Marcel will be number one and we just have to vote for who comes second. Stockdale for me. Maybe getting back to form. He seems to be a confidence player and looks like he's getting his mojo back. yeah I'm onboard that train. MC most we...

Re: Ulster v Benetton Friday October 2nd 8:15pm KO

thought that myself Ger - he's a big enough lump alright, though whether that translates into power is another thing. Though he blancmange'd at contact before the tryline at one point when a score was there but it might just be rustiness. Good to see him out there anway; was it O'Callaghan that thou...

Re: Ulster v Benetton MoTM

between Hume and Rea for me - honourable mention for Marty Moore as well given his activity at the gainline late into the game. I was a bit harsh on Hume until fairly recently but he's been doing well. Didn't think Marcell had a stormer though vital as always. don't want to fall back into the Nick W...

Good stuff! Enjoyable game, fairly impressed with all the young ones - Moore and Hume looked good throughout, McCann did well when he came on, glad McBurney got a good try after the Connacht foul-ups. Lots to build on there.

Re: Ulster v Benetton Friday October 2nd 8:15pm KO

Electric start followed by some extremely passive play as Benetton remembered how to play against us. Line speed disappeared 20 mins in and we're back on our heels so often it's crazy. Big fan of Stockdale generally but his approach to defensive work is driving me nuts recently and everything around...

Re: Ulster v Benetton Friday October 2nd 8:15pm KO

Very concerned on the Addison front; such a silky player, and such a difference-maker when on it. Looking forward to seeing Lowry again at 10; the final and, to a lesser extent, the QF show that we need Plans B, C, and D; while I agree to a point with Rum that he inevitably gets turned over and ragd...

would be reasonably happy to pop along but my lack of a 'second' looks like it might rule me out. It's the incident at Tréville's fenêtre all over again...

Re: Toulouse v Ulster Heineken QF

With regards to NIQs I don’t think we should waste our money and instead offer the likes of Deegan, Penny etc more money (I know that provinces aren’t allowed to offer more money to homegrown players but I feel it’s the only way you will get these guys from wasting their career). To think Deegan ha...

Re: Toulouse v ULSTER MoTM?

Lowry for sure in a very weak field. Would like to see him get a run at 10 as we can't get him near the ball at 15 based on the last few games!

Re: Pro12 Final Leinster v ULSTER MoTM?

My vote goes to Reidy as well - felt he stood out throughout. Thought Stu performed manfully though as Spiffsson/Ger says the way we use him is something of a commentary on others' failings to get beyond the gainline. Similar to a few seasons ago when he and Nick Williams tried to batter through in ...

Re: Pro 14 Final vs Leinster, Sept 12th.

Very bold from Dan. Doesn't shy away from the big calls. 6-2 bench is interesting. Not a lot of cover in the backline if we ship a couple of injuries. Agreed Merv. Happy with those calls and as KOTH we've gone with form - and some great bench options. Nordi and Treadwell maybe a little unlucky for ...

Re: Any word on the Academy?

Fair point. I don't doubt that Doak is in the lead (possibly by some degree given the chat surrounding him) - but as Stu says it'd be great to get Doak +1 through in that position!

Re: Any word on the Academy?

Cheers for those quotes Bayern - really interesting. Sounds as though Finlay v Doak could be fascinating going forward; Bernard Jackman had a good line on the 42 recently about boys who, having not been stars at under-age, benefited from going under the radar in the bigger professional environment -...

Re: Ulster Squad 2019/20

I wouldn't mind being an Irish cap or two behind him. Double league and european cup winner who is irish qualified and covers out half, centre and fullback, what's not to like. Can certainly add depth to our squad. I'm largely in agreement with this, think it's a good signing and depending on the w...
