Re: Ulster v Racing 92 Saturday 8pm KO TNT Sports 3

see my comments on the Bath game--- different ref different result if a referee is looking for penalties he 'll find an offence -- which is why so many penalties are awarded inside the 5 yard line Ulster won but was it a great win not many breaks by the backs basically a win earned by way of defence...

Re: Bath v Ulster

If you think that you have never played the game -- its hard to beat 16 and the fact is with less than 15 minutes to go Ulster were still with in a point of Bath until they lost a player to the bin. The margin of defeat was the effect of the referee three trys were scored after the player was binned

Re: Dan’s Not the Man.

There is the old adage that consultants and lecturers use regarding job satisfaction The first year you are learning the job the next perfecting it the next year the job is easy the year four your less enthusiastic and the fifth year your bored and need a change of challenge Some players and members...

Re: Bath v Ulster

I said the ref was a" homer" The penalty count was 11 penalties awarded to Bath TWO penalties awarded to Ulster No team has ever played a game of rugby and only committed two penalty offences . Do eleven penalty offences justify a red card and the Captain being spoken to twice . ? Rugby is...

Re: Bath v Ulster

While McNabney and Sheridan have more potential than either Rea both are a year short of fulfilling it . Both need a year in the Gym to bulk up and gain confidence to use their physical presence to face more experienced opponents . they get knocked aside to easily to contest a turn over. For proof l...

Re: URC: Ulster Rugby v Edinburgh Rugby Sat 2nd Dec 17:15

A grim lifeless performance but --- a Hume try? disallowed --and two conversions short of a win -- and lost to two penalties awarded for non release ??? I believe on both occasions the whistle was quick and on both occasions the Ulster Scrum Half had hands on the ball small points but the fact is Ul...

Re: Dublin Riots.

The problem in Dublin and Ireland is that there two different types of people ( both north and south ) those who work and those who don't and in many cases the for the unemployed it is both an enforced and unenforced life style choice -- born into poverty and depraved of ambition because of it . The...

Re: Best Starting XV 2023/24

Currently the game is a 23 man squad -- with a 5/3 split on the bench . With the 5 forwards being used and the 3 backs being sticking plaster normally Thus much of the debate between forwards id really unnecessary because the alternatives will normally be used anyway. The debate then becomes one of ...

Re: Ulster v Munster

After 10 mins I thought Ulster were in for a hammering dropping at least 4 trys ,because murphy was on a whistle happy mood and giving Munster every advantage eg bring play back for scrum penalties having allowed play from the scrum -- why ? Did the dropped scrum stop Munster playing the ball --- No...

Re: Ulster v Munster

Ciman McIlroy as wing is a kick catcher the rest of his game is all promise and little delivery if he has to play its at full back Moore is a much more promising player but i don't consider full back his best position to be honest McIlroy recycles the ball well most of the time going into contact bu...

Re: Ulster v Munster

You don’t run into space in professional rugby as a 15 with a defence spread across the field because without support it only as one of two outcomes either a turnover or a penalty. You run towards the closest support hoping for a quick recycle

Re: Ulster v Munster

Herring for Stewart ---- McIlroy for Stewart ---- Stewart for Marshall Marsall on the bench Reasoning Herring has more experience especially of Munster McIlroy has more experience than Stewart at full back --some complaining he runs into contact -- how about playing to orders. Stewart for Marshall -...
