Re: Return of Supporters

I agree but according to local media no cash on table and minister is going to try emphasis on tryget some cash, maybe the inclusion of G AA may sway the finance ministers opinion. Don’t forget Casement Park is still hanging, like a dark cloud over the proceedings.

Re: Ospreys Vs Ulster Sat 10th October 5.15pm Premier Sports

I wonder if they would also perhaps use Newforge for training or just settle for Cooke with the Hotel next door.
It would be interesting to see the reaction elsewhere but the IRFU need the money from sponsors and TV so could happen.

Then will come the usual hassle over flegs etc.

Re: Ulster v Benetton Friday October 2nd 8:15pm KO

Agreed re Terblanche was speaking to him at the airport at Clermont after our defeat and he told me that he had played at most of if not all the major rugby stadiums ( he said this as a modest statement of fact not a boast ) and that he has never experienced an atmosphere like that at Clermont. Reme...

Re: Ulster v Benetton Friday October 2nd 8:15pm KO

I agree that Marty Moore is not the most athletic looking forward on the field but he has the happy knack of appearing in the right spot at the right moment and his handling means that he can distribute the ball very effectively. Yes he is unlikely to score from his own 22 but if you watch him you w...

Re: Ulster v Benetton Friday October 2nd 8:15pm KO

Sorry to harp on the subject but disappointed in Carter’s performance tonight again. I thought that the relatively inexperienced David O Connor showed a lot more commitment when he came on. It was good also to see some young forwards like McBurney and McCann showing up well and that some forwards ar...

Re: Oh no.....

I understand Carter’s pedigree, and that he has had injuries but I have yet to be convinced that He on current performances offers a real step up from our current 2nd rows Certainly not to the extent I would expect from a NIQ signing. Fades is a different case in that he was signed as a utility back...

Re: Ulster v Benetton Friday October 2nd 8:15pm KO

I know that the injury list has forced Dan’s hand to a degree but that is an exciting glimpse of the future in the backline, let’s hope Balacoune recovers well from his injury to add his threat. Also great to see Johnston on the bench to justify to him his move north and there will be a few of the ol...

Re: Leinster 19/20

Leinster gloss has lost some of its shine with the Saracens defeat at the Aviva, the Irish Times suggesting their success only comes with a series of NIQ players bringing an impact. The unpopular decision not to allow any video of their home Leinster A fixture against Ulster probably ironically prov...

Re: Professional rugby

You are not alone in missing Friday nights but I am in the age group which is high risk and whilst I appreciate that it would be a matter of personal choice in your eyes that is not strictly true. It would be true if you could guarantee that only you would get Covid but that is not true due to the t...

Re: Ulster V Connacht at the Aviva Sunday 23rd August

Not wishing to knock Hume but I felt that we badly missed Luke Marshall at 13, he is normally a threat there and seemed to have built up a confidant partnership with McCluskey. His defensive work is also normally very strong and organised. I appreciate that the younger plAyers need to get exposure/ ...

Re: Ulster V Connacht at the Aviva Sunday 23rd August

Interestingly we should have a good idea what we need to do Sunday as Glasgow and Munster will have already played. Of course we will be expecting/ hoping for a win.

Re: Ulster V Connacht at the Aviva Sunday 23rd August

I reckon Silverstu got it right for the Pack , half backs and centres plus Stockdale but the other two back three could be any two from Ludik, Lowry, Fades Gilroy Lyttle or McIlroy. As for the bench the ones named plus Stewart Moore could along with who ever doesn’t start from the back Three. Perhap...

Re: Injury Update

Tread well or Alan Ocnnnor are interchangeable but like you I feel AOC has a bit more of dog in him and makes him a better starter. There is also Rea’s not so wee brother who could feature. If they can get ahead of steam up early on against Connacht it could be a good time to try some of the youngst...
