Solid game.
Missed too many kicks.
Occasion in the first half when he took the ball infield when a quick outside pass left an easy 2 on 1 in the corner.
Reminds me of Stephen Donald.
Functional but no Nick Evans.

Re: A heartfelt apology to Nick Williams

Now capable of a full 80. Love the work attitude.
Must be an awfully bad soccer player if the foot fumbling at the scrum is anything to go by!!
Keeping the ball alive in contact is in the genes - Money Bill (off load king & best rugby player on the planet alongside GI) is his cousin.

Re: Farrell out for season

Had high hopes for CF this season. Physically Wallace / Marshall / Cave are similar - all stocky w/ average height. Farrell is a different animal. Built for the modern upright off loading game. Much taller, heavier, telescopic armed, leggy, athletic - potential to become a lead pod player in attack....

Re: Positives & Negatives: Ulster V Glasgee

Payne should have been awarded that try. His timed run & zip pass was the one Hallelujah moment on friday night. Pure Class.
We need to get the guy more involved in hitting our line.
Or play him in his best position at 13!

Re: Ulster v Newcastle

I missed the quick intelligence & zippy flat attack passing of IHumph on friday night.
Granted Jackson is just easing into his new role. Just hope his front foot play will develop during the season as he imposes himself at 10.

Re: Pre-season friendlies: Positives and negatives

Physically Farrell offers more options than Cave.
He's taller, leggy, longer armed & strong in contact for a young guy.

He wouldn't look out of of place as a rookie in the NRL!

Re: Poll -do we have a stronger 'matchday squad' than last y

PJ was a good all round text book 10 at under age. Good student of the game. Built for defence. But is he quick & instinctive enough to see & make split second decisions at this level on the gain line? How often will he reach the gain line? We do know that while he doesn't have the light foo...

Re: TRANSFER RUMOURS!!

NZ scrum half signing on 3-4 months contract, guessing to cover Ruan for the time he's away with SA. Pure guesswork but Only one available i can think of is 35 year old Bryon Kelleher. Amazing physical player in his heyday. 'Le Bison' Quit Stade Francais one year early this year after suddenly falli...

Re: All Blacks Vs Ireland Take III

Off loading is the outstanding feature of NZ play. In 2005 Robbie Deans (then coach of Canterbury Crusaders) observed that NRL defensive systems were being unlocked by offloading to supporting runners. It had been fine tuned by Tim Sheens (NRL West coast Tigers & kangaroos national coach) during...

Re: The PJ BS antidote thread

If his running game was as good as his defence he'd be some talent. Although I don't doubt his overall game management, He's just not been blessed with the same light footwork or acceleration of messrs Sexton / Madigan. I don't expect many searing breaks but I will expect him to attack the gain line...

Re: Next NIQ

Alberts is contracted til 2013 I think. But hope i'm wrong :) Unique specimen, amazing ball carrier. If available UR would be very interested. Milks every last yard with ball in hand but needs to polish handling & develop awareness of support lines / keeping the football alive / when to offload ...

Re: Next NIQ

I know this isn't the wish list thread but .. We need a multi functional 6/8, more than a specialistic openside. The player that would most interest me is Schalk Burger. Big question - when does his Stormers contract end? Just turned 29, hugely experienced, 6ft 4in , 17st 13 lbs & very agile. Ja...
