Re: To Soon For Change ?

OH Gerry Thanks for the idiot moniker - how constructive given that I ask the question "is it time for change" and outline my concerns based not just on 3 games but all matches going back to the early part of this year. Curently I,m undecided on this question but I do have real concerns ov...

Re: Matt Williams will be out by Christmas

As stated by OG and confirmed by others I have also heard the same story regarding MW,s family issues. Clearly to be away from your family at a crucial stage, coupled with the fact that you appear to have landed a job with a team is such disarray must be a terrible strain. I wish him well and do not ...

Mr MacPherson

Since it is always difficult to see what did or did not happen on the pitch when, for the most part you are 40 +meters away from the action for large parts of the game and since we do not have the luxury this week of TV coverage (by which I mean Sky++ and endure the repeat) can anyone shed any light ...

To Soon For Change ?

While I may not have said so openly I viewed the Williams appointment in two totaly different lights. Either it was a masterstroke to offer a coach with a somewhat tarnished reputation, one last chance to make his name or,on a more negative side, the cheap option. I held the same view of most of the...

What Does Your Umbrella Say About You

On a thoroughly miserable rain soaked night it was perhaps a blessing that large swathes of the pitch were obscurred behind the umbrellas of the certain terrace dwellers. Adorned with numerous corporate logos my mind wandered to the topic of what such monstrous contraptions said about their owners. ...

Re: our views on the maze

Perhaps an additiional factor that may in the mind of the GAA is that not only could they facilitate government support for the development of Clones but also save a small fortune on VAT levelled of ticket sales in NI-as I understand the situation the ROI revenue gives an exemption on VAT to such ti...

Re: Operations Director - Ulster Rugby

CT Interesting comment ref Solomons. I believe he is highly regarded as an administrator within the pro game and in a hypothectical head to head situation with DH it would come down to what you want from the Operations Director. In my view either would have been an excellent choice, both from legal ...

Re: Loyal Ulster Fans

In terms of revenue generation I have long been worried that the UR brand has failed to capitalise on it,s ability to get punters through the gates. With large attendances, strong merchandising sales and widespread cross community interest it should be the ideal senario for prospective big money spon...

Re: Neil Kelly

All the best, Neil. Best of luck of Neil in his new job. I've heard the saying that "attack can win a game, but defence wins leagues" and Ulster had the best defensive record in 05/06 when we won the CL. A much less noted fact is that we had the second best defence last season, despite ou...

Re: "I'm not leaving Ulster"

Have to agree with these sentiments. Last time I checked Easyjet do,nt do OZ and with family at home it is inevitable that pressure will build. Given the disappointing "bounce effect" after MW,s appointment - we still looked clueless at the end of the season, forgot how to do lineouts and c...

Neil Kelly

For a number of months I had been lead to believe that Neil Kelly had not been actively involved with UR, a number of people suggesting that he was unwell and unable to work. I was a bit suprised when it was pointed out the he had joined Leigh Centurions, one of the lesser English RL teams. http://ww...

Re: Niall O'Connor

I beg to differ on that. Wallace may be a long way down the list of 10,s in the ML but with experience and knowledge he is light years ahead of NOC.

Newport flattered us - look at the subsequent games to rate O,Connor.

After tonites dismal showing I really do not care who we sign as long as they turn up full of committment, passion and a burning desire to win.

Re: Niall O'Connor

The trouble with NoC is that although he may be 20 Sexton is at best 2 years older. Unlike O,Connor he appears to be much closer to the finished article, he has a good boot, defensively sound and looks to be capable of bossing a game. In stark contrast, tonites game being another example, NOC is ver...
