Re: Contract Situation

There was an IQ tight head signed this time last year that fell through due to the player suffering a bad injury late in the season, hence the stopgap signing of JTA. It's possible that player could be contracted if he has made a full recovery. There was also a rumour about James French, ex Munster.

Re: Could we field a team of players who came through the Ulster academy?

Warwick was in the Academy in 13/14 (having previously been dropped from sub academy, then made it in on the back of impressive performances in AIL and for the ravens) EOS had two seasons in the Ulster Academy from 2017, although got upgraded midway through the second. He never made it as far as the...

Re: Ulster v Clermont Sat Jan 22 5:30pm BT Sport 3

The Vermeulen on the Clermont team was Elvis. Duane was still at Western Province/Stormers back in 2011. I would expect Parra to make the 23 for Clermont tomorrow. I remember Ulster being very lucky to come out on top that day. Adam D'Arcy and Ian Humphreys pulled a rabbit out of a hat. Was Pienaar ...

Re: Ulster Squad 2019/20
My worry is how long will Cooney hang around once he is in the Ireland jersey. Why wouldn’t he then want to move home to his true province where he’s much much more likely to win trophies and if he’s starting for Ireland he would naturally be 1st choice for his province.
Cooney has...

That's Paddy confirmed as going
The Times reporting today on the Out Half moves in England say that Jackson has turned down Northampton.

Re: TRANSFER RUMOURS!!

Would expect McKinney, McCommish, McComb, McIlwaine all to leave, possibly Ross, Annett, Macklin & PaddyMac all to leave Heard Nelson may leave too but hope thats not true McComb and McComish are both under contract until the end of 2014-15 so I expect only a two year deal would entice them awa...

Re: Ruaidhri Murphy

Slightly related ... is Paddy Mac any closer to playing again? The tele on friday were reporting he was unavailable for hinch as he'd broken down again in training earlier in the week. Presumably hamstring again. Not sure whether he is out of contract at the end of the season Macklin has been back ...

Re: Back to business: Ulster V Ospreys

I see no reason why Baggy's Xv shouldn't start, especially as Joe expects POC to be over his old persons illness(see Jackie brown's posts on Munsterfans  ) The Treviso away is a potential banana skin but injuries and call ups permitting we are capable of batin' the 3 sheep worryin' welchers wh...

Re: IRELAND Extended 2014 RBS 6 Nations Championship Squad

BoD needs 5 caps for RADGEs record right? He has also never started on the bench. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk O'Driscoll is already equal with O'Gara on 128, if I recall correctly. Combined with his 8 Lions caps, he needs another 4 to overtake Gregan's record international cap haul, though...

Re: John Afoa

All the NZ super rugby teams announced their 2014 squads and wider training groups yesterday. I don't know whether that completely rules out further signings but it must at least mean further signings would be restricted by squad space and budget. Given Afoa's name isn't on any of the 5 lists stayi...

Re: Scaalets vs Ulster

I reckon we'll get a few back, so here's my stab at the team: Black, Herring, Afoa, Diack, Stevenson, Wilson, Doyle, Williams Pienaar, Olding, Gilroy, Allen, Cave, Trimble, Payne Subs: Annett, Court, Lutton, McComb, McComish, Marshall, McKinney, McIlwaine I would reckon the forwards are spot on but...

Re: Ulster vs Cardiff

Speaking of Olding. What about that clearance at the weekend off his left boot, in the in-goal area, under pressure? It was sensational, in my opinion. Nearly made halfway. And then compare it to Trimble's later left footed clearance out of hand that went about 10 yards sideways, only for Ruan to r...

Re: OK Doaky, so where are we now?

MckInney will undoubtedly get opportunities over the next 4 rabo games to prove whether he can step up to that standard. He was poor in pre season against Leinster but nerves may have been a factor. Olding is much more preferable choice at 10 provided Ruan is there to do the goal kicking. Luke Marsh...

Re: Contracts

With exception of Calum Black every prop we have is out of contract at the end of the season so plenty of work still to be done there.

Henry the big priority. Jackson would also be an important one to nail down if he's not already contracted beyond the end of this season.
