Re: Pro 12 to become Pro 14 maybe Pro 15

Why not 2 conferences of 7, play each other team in your conference home and away (ie 6 home games), producing 2 conference league tables (say by Christmas). The top 4 teams from each conference then go into Super Group A (ie 8 teams) but carry over the results from matches against the other qualify...

Re: Autumn Internationals 2016

Fantastic first up, front foot, rush defence by Ireland - credit to Andy Farrell. Wonder what the previous defensive coach is doing... probably got some team of suckers drifting across the pitch and conceding 30 yards every time the opposition run a strightforward 3 quarter line.....

Re: Coetzee Signs - Official

Would we have seen him before December anyway???? If he'd been selected (likely) the Rugby Championship doesn't finish until 8 October, and SA's last autumn tour match is 26 November..... add two weeks rest on to the end of that and it would have been mid Dec anyway.... a la Ruan for a number of yea...

You know what? I'm going against the grain, I'm going to say how sorry for Doakie I feel. You can knock yer pan in, talk til yer blue in the bake, but if you have a group of players who are mentally fragile, indeed several of whom appear to be just feckin' stupid then what in christ's name can you ...

Re: Doakie

What was the 'game plan' tonight? Did we have one?? Could anyone honestly discern what out tactics / plan were??? My best guess is 'we'll give to a big ball carrier off the side of the ruck / maul' or 'we'll rolling maul over them'... trouble is we had no ball carriers, and couldn't organise a rolli...

Re: Kingspan

And vice versa....?

Though Kingspan's top 2 strategic objectives begin: (i) 'Lead the field....' and (ii) 'Become the world's leading provider....'

A perfect fit I would have thought - 2 organisations set for world domination.....

Re: What annoys people????

Isn't "City Hall said in a statement" just an example of the use of metonymy? (or is it synecdoche...?) Anyway, I can't wait until the Rugby World Cup starts to see if the blazers from D4 have made the right decision with Joe. >EW No problems with the metonymical use of 'city hall' to repr...

Re: What annoys people????

With you on that one Baggy – seems like all nouns are now subject to what’s known as ‘verbing’, just add an ‘ed’... or to make it an adjective just add ‘ified’. Another that has been annoying me recently is ‘city hall’... as in ‘We’re going to take this to city hall...’. No, you’re not, you’re going...

Are Iain Henderson and Loob de Jager the same person? Separated at birth? Both are 22, both locks... similar height and weight... Was Hendo 'ringing' today for the Springboks...???? Could we sign Loob (oh er) as a stunt double for Hendo???

Re: Pro 12 Predictions

Leaving aside league predictions, what can we expect at Ravenspan on a Friday night? Having waivered at the 11th hour (actually 5 past midnight...) and renewed my season ticket I predict that: General: (i) I’m going to expend a total of at least 200 hours over the course of the season swearing blind...

Re: Season review-positives and negatives

I secretly quite liked the choir as well.... reminded me of the 'old days' when some band from Ballyclare (the 'Friendly Band'????) used to parade the pitch at half time... they were engagingly bad... especially when the bandmaster did his jig.....
