Re: Ulster vs Leinster at the Aviva 29/8/20

Depressing couple of weeks. We have been the rustiest and least well-conditioned Irish side on show by some distance IMO - which is concerning.. I guess you have to be careful not to read too much into what are effectively pre-season games, but my big concerns/frustrations are: - big recruitment fai...

I hadn’t seen that, good for him - I hope he doesn’t turn out to be one who got away, he had a cracking last season for Hinch before he left

Re: Ulster rugby tight-lipped....

There was no malicious intent at all in Gilroy’s post - after he stuck the picture up a couple of guys texted him, but even looking back at it he couldn’t work out the problem and concluded they were winding him up.. it wasn’t until he called his old dear that he twigged! He’s not the sharpest, but ...

Re: Ulster Squad 2019/20

Interesting note in Jonathan Bradley's article today - apparently 5 players currently on the senior panel, and 5 in the academy have been told they're free to look elsewhere... With that size of exodus, and even with what looks like a promising intake in the academy, and a potential slimming of the ...

Re: TRANSFER RUMOURS!!

Ok, King, now have you any idea of any reason for this signing. We've come up with a pretty handy bunch of young local backs, so we go and sign an aging Leinsterman, who can't get on the Bristol team. Is it an Ulster idea or has some bright spark at D4 worked out it might allow 1 of our 10s to move...

Re: Leinster 19/20

I see Petrie was in the press saying that we should stop looking up to Leinster not long ago, and I see where he's coming from, but at the same time they're a pretty awesome outfit and if we were going to emulate anyone I would suggest that we start there.. Is there any side in the NH which has the ...

faddes out for the season no great loss I guess.
Heard that he had shoulder surgery lined up for the summer after the season ended, but after the Os match he was told to crack on and have the surgery now!

Re: New Scrum Half?

Am i missing something Re. Lewis Finlay? He has been very very good for Ireland U20s He’s a decent AIL player. As I have said many times before they made a mistake when they choose Stewart over O’Donnell. Finlay was at Hinch last year and couldn’t get near the 1s because ROD was there. Hence why he...

Re: TRANSFER RUMOURS!!

- great to see EOS and ToT coming through but we are 1 prop away from disaster and if that prop is Marty Moore then we really are screwed. I guess big Gareth may be the answer when fit but we don’t know yet. Depth beyond first 2 sets is worrying poor and seem to be regressing (McCall, Kane). yes th...

Re: TRANSFER RUMOURS!!

Also, what positions do we have no youngsters/quality coming through? Im struggling to answer this question which is a good thing. Last thing we want to do is bring in an NIQ and have them struggle to get a starting place and then hold back an academy prospect/young player. Bryn must have a 3 year ...

Re: U20s / Women's 6N 2020

Stewart had some great carries and must have challenged Finlay for man of the match. Mc Cann was quietly effective and set up a try. Not sure if 8 is his best position. More of a 6. Moxham was caught out a couple of times positionally and I can see McElroy taking his place if fit. Hyde was out inju...

Re: Ulster Squad 2019/20

To be honest, it's hard to see Jordi getting a place at Leinster with the younger guys now in the back row for us like Doris and Deegan. Dan Leavy is making a big effort to come back too. Conan in the mix too. Jordi will stay in Belfast unless he gets a big offer from France and he has given up on ...

Re: In Defence of Schmidt, Ireland's RWC and where to now?

well the snippets of his book that are cropping up in the media are pretty mind-blowing, the emperor really didn't have any kecks on. An example, he reckons they might have lost against Japan because he thinks the players didn't take him seriously enough when he was telling him what a good side they...
