Re: 6N 2020

I have always considered tigerburnie to be an authentic rugby supporter. Good perceptive comments over the years. But the post today about England/Wales is not worthy of him. Most of us in here are no lovers of Wakes or Welsh tactics over the years, but yesterday England plumbed the depths. A thuggi...

MC outstanding. Never a backward step. Strong effective ball carrying.

Re: Ulster v Connacht Fri Dec 27th 7:35pm

Have to agree that this was a shocking decision. No doubt the collision was accidental as Paddy Mac is not the sort of person to do it deliberately, but ‘accidental’ is no sort of defence these days. It was clear at the time that it was a no arms tackle, head in head, and hard. Very poor decision wh...

Re: Ulster Vs Harlequins Sat 7th Dec @ 15.15 BT Sport

Hm...don’t think you and I are watching the same matches. Balacoune, Stockdale and Addison are the back three of choice with Ludik as The most reliable and versatile back-up. In my opinion :)

Surprised by that. Probably not helped by SF’s repeated comments on BT Sport commentary.

Re: Ulster v Clermont

My memory of it is that it wasn’t high and that the injury was caused by an accidental clash of heads due to the strength of the impact. I don’t think a shoulder was involved. The issue may be whether Addison wrapped his arms sufficiently or not. It looked ok at the time, and obviously the ref and T...

Re: ULSTER MOTM vs Clermont

John Cooney is a good player but blows a bit hot and cold. It would be good to see him become more consistent. On the plus side his tries against Bath and last night were excellent pieces of opportunism and (in the case of last night) vision. Also his quickly taken penalty kick from hand gave us the...

Re: Where’s Baggy????

Have to say that I miss him too. Although his views on life, society and faith are a world apart from mine, he invariably makes me think. Yes he is a tad outspoken at times, doesn’t suffer fools gladly, and his diatribes can make you flinch, but if we can’t listen to and evaluate opinions different ...

Re: UR Carol Service

Not a decent decision Baggy. Once again UR fails to stand up to the IRFU. The chaplain did great work round the Nevin Spence family tragedy and has done excellent quiet pastoral work behind the scenes with long-term injured players, and other bereaved families. The dictat of the IRFU is out of step ...

Re: Treviso vs Ulster MoTM

James Hume. First senior start and made that try-saving tackle right at the end of the first half. I doubt if Ulster would have won if they had gone in another 7 points down. Crucial moment. He also had a very decent match with big Stu keeping an eye on him.

Re: Shoulder to Shoulder

Recorded it and have now watched it. Some of it is hard to take, some of it reflects poorly on BOD, but worth watching for the contributions of Willie John McB, David Duckham, Jimmy McCoy, Doc Irwin, Nigel Carr and Trevor Ringland. Can’t have been easy for some of them reliving difficult times. Grea...
