Re: Belfast Met Rugby Acadamey to be binned?
I hope this is correct, as this could be an excellent pathway for younguns to learn, develop and stay connected to the game is used and supported appropriately by the branch. Certainly should be part of the "pathway" that has recently been touted around...but didn't see it mentioned by UR...

Re: Belfast Met Rugby Acadamey to be binned?
Certainly news to me as my son has applied and intends to go to the Met Rugby Academy in September! They have again applied to be part of the School's Cup but have met with the usual resistance. I don't know the details but apparently the schools object as their stance is rugby is an extra curricula...

Re: A new low…?
Developing young talent is crucial for the success of any rugby team, and there are several strategies that Ulster rugby could consider to produce more young talented future professional players: Invest in youth development programs: Ulster rugby could invest in youth development programs that iden...

Re: A new low…?
The best rugger chaps go to the grammar. It's natural selection. This attitude, unfortunately, still appears to be very common perception. Whilst I know your comment was made jokingly Dave, the best jokes have the element of truth! When my son was taking part in a rugby summer camp at the end of P7...

Re: A new low…?
The Met U18 team this year(and previous years) competed in the Ulster Carpets U18 competitions against more established rugby clubs. Whilst they maybe weren't as competitive this year as some other years, they have won these competitions in previous years. I believe there may be a little animosity f...

Re: A new low…?
Hi folks - long-time lurker here but this topic is close to my heart at the minute as my son is currently 16/5th form at a non-rugby playing school. He is currently playing his rugby at Malone U16s and has applied to Belfast Met's Rugby Academy to study a BTEC Level 3 in Sport Science. Anyway my poi...

Re: U12/Year 8 club rugby
Dromore (club) would also be a good call. Have always had a good youth set up and the talent ID is spreading its wings to all clubs in ulster. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk Dromore would certainly be an option all right - along with Lisburn (obviously),Hinch and Banbridge. Had a chat with a ...

Re: U12/Year 8 club rugby
Thanks for the reply ColinM - staying at Lisburn would be a convenient solution indeed. His issue with that is that his Mini group there have been very successful (and yes I know it's supposed to be non-competitive but try telling these kids that when they know if they've won or lost!!) and the majo...

Re: U12/Year 8 club rugby
Cheers Tap+Go - I agree the most important part is his enjoyment and feeling part of it all. I'll enjoy watching him no matter what club he plays for. He's been lucky to have been part of a great wee bunch of players at Lisburn Minis and he still has his P7 year to go with them. He may well decide t...

Re: U12/Year 8 club rugby
Many thanks for all the replies folks - don't worry, I'm not trying to live vicariously through my son either. :D He is pretty talented and this has been mentioned by his coaches at the Minis and also the ulster coaches who run the summer camps. He does enjoy his rugby and I want him to keep enjoyin...

U12/Year 8 club rugby
Hi there - I'm a new user to the UAFC so please be gentle!! Basically I'm looking some information from all you very clever people regarding U12/Year 8 club rugby as my young lad will be finishing Mini Rugby next year (2018) at Lisburn and won't be attending a grammar school for his post-primary edu...
