Re: Leinster VS Ulster HC QF 01/04/23

It’s time for McFarland to go IMO. He’s taken us as far as he can. Disagree. I call it the "Wenger out syndrome" - an unfortunate import from the round ball game, the idea that we'd be perfect if it wasn't for the manager holding us back, and we get rid of him everything will be grand. I ...

Re: Leinster VS Ulster HC QF 01/04/23

8. Why the awful yellow Jersey? We play in white, Leinster blue. No clash. End of. It's our Heineken Cup kit. Not sure why we switched from red, but we did. With the number of yellow flags being handed out, I wonder are they preparing us for a first choice yellow kit next season? The Ulster provinc...

Re: Leinster VS Ulster HC QF 01/04/23

Too much negativity here. A good effort against what is effectively Ireland, the number one ranked team in the world. We couldn't keep up with them, but we didn't disgrace ourselves. We did about as well as any team in the Six Nations. You couldn't fault anyone for effort, and Stockdale and Herring ...

Re: Cooney staying?

It seems fairly obvious to me that Dan has a definite policy of keeping strong finishers on the bench to remedy our regular problem of collapsing in the last ten minutes, Cooney's one of those, and it's been working. Didn't work today, but I'm not sure what would have done.

Re: Leinster VS Ulster HC QF 01/04/23

That's about as strong a team as we could put out, and a good strong bench so hopefully a strong finish. As for the Leinster side, well, there's no Doris, Sexton or Ringrose, but otherwise, about as strong as they could put out. But they named as good a team in last year's URC semi-final, and the Bu...

Re: A new low…?

Not convinced a draft is the way to go, but a second tier, semi-pro competition in beween the provinces and the All Ireland League, like the Scottish Super 6, might be a good idea as a bridge between the clubs and the U20s on the one hand and the provinces on the other, to give players more competit...

Re: A new low…?

I think you're probably overreacting on the U20s front. We had sixteen players in the previous two years' squads. Basically, we had a good crop, who have aged out of the U20s and mostly haven't broken through to the seniors yet. But Nathan Doak, Ben Moxham, Harry Sheridan and Jude Postlethwaite have...

Re: The run in

The awkward thing is, a big Leinster win is best for us. We can't catch Leinster, but we can catch the Stormers if they drop points. Goes against the grain, but come on Leinster!

Re: Cardiff v Ulster Saturday 4th March 7:35pm Viaplay Sports 1 / URC TV / Super Sport

As it is being discussed on the leinster forum perhaps we should also. Given Stewart Moores all round footballing ability could he be considered a viable option at 10? Has a decent kick, can pass (skip) and has an eye for a gap. I've been impressed by the hard straight lines he has been running so ...

Re: Cardiff v Ulster Saturday 4th March 7:35pm Viaplay Sports 1 / URC TV / Super Sport

At least one of Herring and Stewart are likely to be involved in the World Cup in September and October, and Declan Moore's supposed to be going to Connacht next season. That only leaves John Andrew for the first month or so of the season. Unless we make a new signing, McCormick will be in the first...

Re: Cardiff v Ulster Saturday 4th March 7:35pm Viaplay Sports 1 / URC TV / Super Sport

Dan Soper said in the BelTel the other week that Marcus knew what he needed to do to get back into the team, so he's obviously done it, whatever it was. Good to see him back. No Vermeulen, but some strong finishers on the bench. I've only seen Postlethwaite in a friendly, but he looked like a physic...
