Re: Crisis or chronic illness??

I've said before about how, the season before last, after Coetzee left and Cooney was knocked out in the Challenge Cup semi-final, our game collapsed and we didn't get our mojo back through the whole of the Rainbow Cup. The second half against Leinster reminded me of that semi-final against Leiceste...

Perhaps they can overturn Stewart, Cooney and Henderson's head injuries so they can play at the weekend?

Player safety comes a distant second to Leinster's Heineken Cup chances it seems. Come on Racing.

Re: Leinster v Ulster Sat 3rd Dec 19:35 Viaplay Sports 1

The thing I couldn't figure out about Lowe knocking Cooney out with his forearm is, never mind a card, the ref didn't even give a penalty. It was exactly the same offence as the one Andy Warwick got sent off for, coincidentally also against Leinster, but with a higher degree of danger as Cooney was ...

Cardiff gave the Sharks a good hiding last week. Some green shoots there.

Two players withdrawn with illness from the Ospreys against the Sharks in Durban this afternoon. If it turns out to be gastroenteritis, I think we can forget any suggestion that Ulster and Glasgow brought the bugs with them. https://www.ospreysrugby.com/news/two-changes-ospreys-team-face-cell-c-sharks

Could we field a team of players who came through the Ulster academy?

One thing I think we're doing better at than we used to is producing home-grown players, but could we field a team entirely of players produced by the academy, and if so, how strong would it be? 1. Eric O'Sullivan 2. Tom Stewart 3. Tom O'Toole 4. Iain Henderson 5. Alan O'Connor 6. David McCann 7. Ma...

Re: Ulster v Zebre Friday November 25th 7.35pm UK Time BBC NI

On Doak's yellow card, I agree with the referee's decision. Tip tackles are inherently dangerous, and while I think Doak did it carelessly rather than intentionally, that applies to a lot of high tackles that are penalised harshly to encourage players to be more careful about tackling in a potential...

Re: Ulster v Zebre Friday November 25th 7.35pm UK Time BBC NI

They must have plenty of confidence in Flannery to start him without any experienced cover at out-half. Curtis was an out-half in the academy, but I don't think he's played there at senior level, which leaves Doak, who has finished a few games there. Flannery did look good in the friendly against Ex...

Re: Autumn Internationals 2022

The Irish Times is reporting that Ireland are going to drop Rob Baloucoune for Jimmy O'Brien against Australia, and are considering dropping Big Stu for Bundee Aki. Don't know if this is just speculation or if the reporter's got a source. Actual team to be announded at lunchtime today, apparently.

At the moment it's just playing an ad, but the game doesn't kick off for another 40 minutes.

I've just tried the Virgin Media Player, it plays an ad and then stops. The game doesn't kick off for another 40 minutes though. I'll keep it open and see what happens.

Re: Munster v Ulster Sat Oct 29th 5:15pm KO RTE2 / Premier Sports 1 / Supersport / URC TV

Who needs Kitshoff? Let's just keep Rory. Not a particularly scintillating performance, but an away win in an interpro, without our Ireland players and a week after everybody being down with E. coli. Guaranteed second in the table at the international break. I'll take it. I'll defend Billy Burns. He...

Re: Munster v Ulster Sat Oct 29th 5:15pm KO RTE2 / Premier Sports 1 / Supersport / URC TV

On recent form, those are reasonable odds, but Munster at home will be no pushover, especially after last week's shenannigans. Pretty strong-looking 23 though - the only player not on international duty that I'm disappointed not to see is Marcus Rea. I was worried more players might not have been up...
