Ulster schools coaching and rugby resources compared to Leinster are miles behind. Top schools like clongowes have a rugby supplement charge for pupils wishing to play performance rugby of 3-5k a year. Mummy and daddy see this as a way into Leinster and also keep up with the O’Jones

Carrick, Instonians and Ballyclare fielding an additional adult male team this season. Testament to the hard work that goes on at youth level and the social element of the clubs. Guys play rugby with their mates and have fun. Few beers after a hard game still has massive value.

Quins pulled out of game tomorrow too. Can’t field a team. Bit worrying at start of season for them. Rumoured to be pulling out of AIL. Where did the rumour come from? Yourself? Time will tell on AIL 2nd xv compared to 1st xv Hard to judge in first round of games, queens for example largely had probable 2nd xv playing last Thursday so their “2nd” xv to play Cooke would have been very weak. Quins pulled the game on Friday afternoon, telling the branch of their intentions and only told their players the game was off Friday afternoon.
