Re: Ulster Squad 2019/20

Interesting note in Jonathan Bradley's article today - apparently 5 players currently on the senior panel, and 5 in the academy have been told they're free to look elsewhere... With that size of exodus, and even with what looks like a promising intake in the academy, and a potential slimming of the...

Re: Payne & Afoa - on Super 15 now!!

i dare say Brian Moore has a damn sight more expertise in the arts of front row play than anyone posting on this board. His suggestion is not without merit, as many teams now employ as hooker as a 3rd prop, as the old school Argentinians used to do to great effect. This would certainly help the issu...

Re: Payne & Afoa - on Super 15 now!!

Afoa has been outstanding in the last few weeks for the Blues, his work rate has been exceptional, against the Chiefs a few weeks back he made 20 tackles and 18 2 weeks later against the highlanders. He has obviously done some serious work on his fitness which at a guess would have been a work on fr...

Re: Ireland U20 JWC Squad

If these guys want to make it to the full Ireland and eventually British Lions then they'll have to get used to training and playing schedules similar to this. Ask any of the players what they think and they'll probably respond something like it's not ideal but i'd do anything to play for my country...

Re: Heineken Cup Seeding 2011-12

They should just go back to the old school way of sticking all the teams in a hat and drawing them out into 6 groups of 4, no seedings, anyone can draw anyone. Luck of the draw and all that.

Cardiff, Bath and Aironi/Treviso please!!

Alternatively we could go Leicester, Northampton and Racing Metro.

Seeding system is incredibly poor!!

Re: Squad for next year

Jane would surely play fullback with Payne in the centres where he has been tearing up with the blues all season. This whole strongest 15 is pretty hypothetical because how many times do you actually get your best XV on the run on team at any stage during the season, maybe 5 at best probably even le...

ex Ulster favourite Shieldsy in good charity work Saints team manager Paul Shields came out on top in the club's mini challenge in the 2011 London Marathon. Re: Payne & Afoa - on Super 15 now!!

as previously mentioned, Afoa is a great addition to the Ulster squad around the park, but compared to BJ he doesn't even rank on the same page in terms of scrummaging ability! which is slightly worrying if Ulster ever come up against Northampton again, bearing in mind the hiding Court took on both ...
