Re: Pro rugby in Ireland going down the toilet
Touring teams demand a fee if there isn't a reciprocal arrangement for games, but since they are generally fringe players, their fee won't be that high ....... Wot? By reciprocal arrangements, do you mean that they won't demand a fee when Munster go and tour down under to play an internat...

Re: Pro rugby in Ireland going down the toilet
Touring teams demand a fee for playing against non-international opposition so while a sell-out may make a bit of money, it won't make that much difference to Munster's financial situation. Touring teams demand a fee if there isn't a reciprocal arrangement for games, but since they are generally fr...

For the simpleton Who the feck goes to Limerick to watch an International on a Friday night ? Munster men hence a team with about 8 Munster players Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk There was only 1 full international and that was on a Saturday. The Fiji game v Ireland XV which featured all th...

Re: Pro rugby in Ireland going down the toilet
One wonders at the mode of Finance Did the IRFU take out a loan and make a loan to Munster at a favourable rate and is the loan rate fixed or variable. The problem for Internationals being played in Limerick is the only people who buy tickets live in Munster because the team will be weighted heavil...

Re: Pro rugby in Ireland going down the toilet
Musgrave Park was self financing ( Munster sold some land they had ). The new training centre is free (being built by the University of Limerick). Thomond Park had to be redeveloped. Its 8 years old and 3/4 of it has been paid off. Most people get a mortage over 20 years. The only thing wrong with ...

Re: Pro rugby in Ireland going down the toilet
So what to do with Munster? Clearly financially in very deep water. The stadium is a weight around their collective necks. Lansdowne Road needs to take tight control of the situation. Tom Grace was perhaps the top liquidator of his day in the 1990s and never showed any compassion to corporate failu...

Re: Munster 16/17
Apparently there was no offer from Munster for Ben Betts......madness Other reports are that Munster offered him an academy spot at €8K and Leicester offered him a spot at £20K per year. If he turns out to be any good, he will be back (if he wants Ireland caps), so it should work out very well for ...

You must all be thrilled in D4 that you will finally be able to close down Munster Rugby.Dublin4 wrote:sources very close to the Union here in Dublin 4.

Re: The Blazers
We're getting off lightly. The WRU spend about £400,000 per annum on 'Directors emoluments'. The RFU spend £1.4m per annum on their Board, the RFU even makes pension contributions for them. The Welsh Chairman is on about £30,000 pa (and it seems to be a job for life more or less). The IRFU is one of...

Re: Gilroy
Not forgetting Matt Mostyn, John Kelly, Anthony Horgan, Brian Carney, Barry Murphy or Ian Dowling in recent memory and I use the term memory very loosely. Oh God. I think one of my worst memories of ever watching Ireland was watching Anthony Horgan get chased down by an All Black second row... Aye,...

Ah BT I knew you weren't, completely, serious. Others I suspect were. I also would personally pick Gilroy over Fitzgerald but thems the breaks. As a relatively freshly avowed Turnip I am sure you are in the perfect position to put an arm around young 'Gilly' and instruct how to drink from the cup o...

Newspaper or news sites would have no purpose then if everyone was like you! The world would also be a very dull place. I don't think anyone is placing any rugby writers on a pedestal (though there are a few who are admired and provide useful insights). Everybody who gets upset at what they write o...

Re: Gilroy
The problem with Gilroy,Cave,Trimble (until recently) and to a certain extent Henry lies not entirely with the coach but the IT and INDO who without a day passing are in praise of their idols Madigan and Zebo. They put the Nelson eye on their faults and raise them without warrant to world class sta...
