Re: Ulster v Connacht

I don’t agree with the view that certain refs hate Ulster. Some are definitely better than others usually they improve with experience - when they are inexperienced 50/50 calls often go to the home side or the big name side. Some of the worst reffing IMHO, was from Adamson some years back but he has...

Re: Ulster v Connacht

I’ve just watched the first half again and it looked to me that the ref’s decisions went slightly Ulster’s way overall. Two big calls in Ulster’s favour were in scrums which could easily have ended in penalties. The big decision against Ulster was missing the forearm clear out on Stu which should ha...

Re: Ulster v Connacht

So the recriminations begin. I’ve never believed the hype I’ve read on this forum over many years about how Ulster should be competing for silverware each year - we rarely have a team that’s good enough, but our delusions persist. Anyone remember us having the best threequarter line in Europe ? Or t...

Re: Contract Situation

I’d guess TH is the most difficult position to fill - if it’s all about money (and not NIQ nonsense) why not dispense with a couple of backs and a couple of back rowers - these positions would be easier to fill in the event of injuries from the Academy

Re: Contract Situation

I will also be sad to see Sean go - he was one of our standout players over the last 5 or more years. I saw Kane also outed as one being let go which made me think again that maybe our coaching/ conditioning team could be doing a better job, especially with the forwards. I think more could be expect...

Re: Ulster v Clermont Sat Jan 22 5:30pm BT Sport 3

Hello all, second post (orig version disappeared somewhere) Found a match prog for 12/11/11 for match against Clermont. I was obviously there but don’t remember the score - wonder is it still available on video. Anyway the teams looked impressive (possibly better than current) so here they are Danie...

Re: Positives & Negatives: Ulster V Edinburgh

Positives A win Another great forward effort Ferris back Bryn rightfully starting at fullback Negatives Rubbish goalkicking One dimensional back play - no cohesion - no planned moves (I'd even welcome back the old telegraphed inside pass to the wing , anything !) - we desperately need a no.10 - iHum...

Re: To Soon For Change ?

The two changes I would like to see are 1) Us landing 90% of our penalty attempts and conversions. If this had happened in the three matches so far I'm sure we would have been very close to Llanelli and beaten Cardiff away and the confidence gained would have seen us beat Newport. 2) More leadership...

Re: Cardiff v Ulster live

Matt Williams was angry about the way we played in the second half - should the captain not have told the players what to do ?

Re: Setanta owners could net e1.3bn

Setanta is at best amateurish and at worst totally devious. Any company that broadcasts a recorded message that it hopes to answer your call within 5 minutes is a bit of a joke. The suspicion that they are devious came when I tried to cancel my subscription for the freeview set top box (it gives onl...

Fermain,
I remember (vaguely) a previous match against the All Blacks. I think Colin's brother Stan Meads was playing in the second row. I do remember seeing the prop Ken Gray and thinking that he was huge. Was it 1963 ? Has anyone any photos of that match ?
