Re: Ulster team for Portugal

The only portugese player I remeber from the RWC was Vasco Uva. The captain and No8 he was a great player with the ability to dump tackle anyone within reach. But with him out the fray I reckon we should win by about 15-20 points

Re: Street rugby?

Used to play rugby on the concrete playground at School. This was contact and included full contact mauls. There where never many serious injuries, the main one coming when a boy ran into a wall and sufered concussion. TBH they were the greatest fun you could have on a playground. BTW this also incl...

Re: Rory Returns for Australia

I wanted to see Ferris and Buckley starting. It has been a real waste of a year for one F in hindsight. Goes to RWC doesn't play. Get's injued ofr most of the season. Plays a few games very well and then goes to Os where he still doesn't get a game. And then you wonder we have a problem with develop...

Re: Team for Connacht and Rationale

I woul really like to see Cave getting some game time as he needs to play in order to improve. Regarding Trimble I sometimes think that teams try to be too clever. With Timble being our main attacking threat in the past two seasons we now use him as a dummy runner to create space outside of him, the...

Re: Future Irish pack

Well, here's a pack almost completely different to the one that started against England

1.Young
2.Flannery C
3.Buckley
4.Donnacha Ryan
5.Caldwell
6.Ferris
7.Pollock (not in the immediate future but possibly next world cup)
8.Heaslip

Re: Wallace set to Stay

He could form a good midfield partnership of 10. Niall O'Connor 12.Paddy Wallace 13. Andy TRimble I'd rather see O'Connor get more game time then bring in a foreign fly half who is a late twentyes and can't develop anymore. Also I thought paddy was playing better at 12 in the last few games as he ha...

Re: Munster Player to Ulster?

Don't know much about Props so I 'll havea guess at Donnacha Ryan. A good player who will play for Ireland but won't get European Cup games with Munster so I'd like to see him form an all irish second row partnership with potential for the future

Re: France v Ireland

Murphy kicked the ball. Overall am quite pleased with the 2nd half performance with Leamy looking back to his best ina green jersey. I also thought B'OD played quite well making a coupple of decent half breaks and Trimble was IMO the best Irish back.

Re: Brian Moore - love him or hate him?

I couldn't stop laughing in the 2nd half as he grew increasingly agitated, considering this he was quite quiet when Italy scored that chargedown try. Wouldn't like to be one of his customers at his wifes manicurist on Monday

Re: Trimble in the southern media

I thinkTrimble at 13 and B'OD at 12 is a good combo D'arcy even at his peak was never an excellent distributor. With B'OD there we might be able to stretch some defences. Trimble has the explosive power and finsihing skills to be potentially the best OC in the northern hemisphere On Sat I think we s...

Re: Who gets Darcy's shirt ?

B'OD should go to 12 and Trimble get the 13 shirt. Kearney and Bowe on the wings. I'd like a backrow of 6.Leamy/Quinlan 7.Wallace 8.Leamy/Quinlan depending on who plays six. This will be a game where aggresion is required at the breakdown and it needs rugged players who can stand up and take a beati...

Re: Who gets Darcy's shirt ?

Trimble in at 13 and Bowe on the wing

Horgan was not good for Ireland A while Bowe was excellent. Also Caldwell was quite impressive, does anyone know if Pollock got on to play for them

Re: The Ireland Under 20 team

Jamie Smith was one of the only players who I thought was any good at the World Cup last year. Another player was a really quick winger who always made a break when he had the ball but unfortunately he only got the ball twice
