Re: A little bit of politics folks`

The Times has an article saying that the cladding used sheeting from a company called Reynobond and it cost about £22 per square metre. A more fire resistant version from the same company cost about £24 per metre. Their rough estimate was 2,000 square metres of cladding was needed which would mean a...

Re: A little bit of politics folks`

Much made of it being a £10M refit, what would be interesting to know would be if it had been plush private owners highrise would the same materials have been used, for if £10M, which sounds impressive, is actually a cheap do-er upper, then some ballix needs a set of pyjamas with arrows on them and...

Re: A little bit of politics folks`

I went past Grenfell tower on the tube on Thursday morning. The building was still smouldering and was horrific. I can't begin to comprehend what the people stuck in the tower must have gone through and the bravery of the fire brigade. With these types of incident, there is generally not one single ...

Re: A little bit of politics folks`

There's a local website for the area I live in London and several Conservative councillors post on it.

I'm looking forward to winding them up... any truth in the rumour they will be relaxing requirements for conservation areas so residents can paint the kerbstones red, white and blue?

Re: A little bit of politics folks`

Have to say, I'm starting to find the English hysteria over the DUP mildly amusing [emoji57]. Got to love democracy eh [emoji23] It is more than mildly amusing, it is fecking hilarious. Particularly the true blue Conservatives who have just woken up, turned around and seen who they are in bed with...

Re: A little bit of politics folks`

It looks like Theresa May won't be able to count on the unwavering loyalty of Ruth Davidson and the Scottish conservatives when to comes to hard Brexit and their deal with the DUP. The DUP probably have Davidson on their "people who are going to hell list" given she is engaged to be married to anoth...

Re: London Bridge

As I mentioned, a lot of the anti-terror legislation has been for the politicians to give the illusion they are doing something. Calls to prevent encryption on the internet, or mass surveillance of the internet also show how clueless the politicians are and these fall into the "something must be do...

Re: London Bridge

It may be worth mentioning the de Menezes case that happened after the 2005 London bombings where the police did misidentify and shoot an innocent person. For that case, they decided not to prosecute the officers involved but the police as an organisation were fined (and I'm not sure how that works ...

Re: London Bridge

There will probably be politicians calling for even more anti-terrorism legislation on the basis of "something must be done and this is something so lets do it". On average, the UK has introduced new anti-terror laws every 2 years since 2000 but there doesn't seem to be any analysis of how effective...

Re: A little bit of politics folks`

I don't think the Maybot will front the Brexit negotiations. As PM, she won't have the time and she would also be a disaster given her natural instincts are for secrecy and control freakery and spouting meaningless platitudes won't cut any ice when presented with a detailed list of points that need ...

Re: Manchester

Bazzaj - you are just playing semantic games talking about "modern leftist elitist liberalism" and "actual liberalism". Let's face it, you will just decide what you like and what you don't like based upon your own prejudices and if you don't like it, then you will call it "modern leftist elitist" an...

Re: Manchester

You've got a couple of things in common with the Manchester bomber bazaaj.

You both don't want a liberal society and you are both wrong.
