Re: Coronavirus 2020 - What can I do?

The Republic of Ireland has a population of over 2.5 times the population of Northern Ireland (4.9m versus 1.9m). Yet I read today that ROI has only 16% more Covid patients in hospital than NI. We have 987 today and you have 848. Why is your hospitalisation rate so high, over twice as high, compared...

Re: What are you watching?

Twin is excellent and keeping us in thrall in these horrible times.
Never did I think that remote life in a freezing Norwegian fjord could be so watchable! It has to end badly.

Jackie, try Safe on Netflix. Also, the Nest on BBC is absolutely superb.

Re: A History of Irish Rugby......

That's a fascinating set of programmes bringing back great memories. I was at the home games and at the game in Cardiff which was a miserable experience surrounded by typically arrogant Welsh fans. Ireland hardly ever won there. Younger fans should watch the way that scrums formed immediately the re...

Re: Coronavirus 2020 - What can I do?

I came home from Spain yesterday. The airport reminded me of the clambering on the last helicopter leaving Saigon in April 1975, On Sunday and Monday, in Marbella, we had experience of being sent home by the police because we were only out for a local walk. Cyclists were being fined on the spot. If ...

Re: Ulster Squad 2019/20

A move to Ulster would be a great way for Mads to finish his career on a high.
It makes sense all round. Good work by Nucifora if it comes to pass.

It might equally be said that allowing thousands of Madrid fans attend a match in Liverpool tonight is arsefoonery.

Re: 6N 2020

I agree. Ham fisted. Better decision would have been to play behind closed doors and avoid the "mass gathering" of people that worried the authorities. Now there is no alternative date available. I wonder how much of this is tied in possible insurance claims. The IRFU wanted a "directive" that they ...

Re: 6N 2020

The authorities down here made a complete ballix of the "decision" to call off the Italy match yesterday. The Chief Medical Oflicer of the Department of Health announced it and the Minister went on tea time news to the same effect without anyone telling the IRFU. Nobody thought through if this appli...

Re: 6N 2020

I expected and feared this result. Ryan, Stander and Conway the best of the Irish today. Henderson, Doris, Deegan, Cooney, Byrne, must start next time. Conor Murray does some very good things but he is so so slow and telegraphs his play. Go away, Conor, and see if you can restart your career. Sexton...

Re: Munster 2019/20

The Pro 14 is descending into farce with the Kings being absolutely trounced by the Munster 2nds.
And they have flown 1,000s of miles for this?
Not sustainable.

Re: A little bit of politics folks`

Still FG in leafy D4? Not quite. FG lost a seat in the constituency that contains D4. Everyone forgets that there are two communities in that postal district. it's not just the leafy suburbs but also working class flat complexes, old docklands and council houses that make up D4. Places that play foo...

Re: A little bit of politics folks`

SF will be less than half of a government with Fianna Fail and the Greens. If they screw up the economy then there won't be a united Ireland any time soon. But to avoid damaging the economy. SF will have to jettison a lot of the freebies they have promised like free houses and free childcare, and re...

Re: A little bit of politics folks`

The Republic of Ireland easily affords a welfare state with benefits higher than in the UK while running a budget surplus, having full employment and a growing economy. The Republic has, however, a problem with health as it spends as much as the UK but gets poor value for money. The rising populatio...
