Re: Who remembers D-day?
[quote="Hans Indaruck" post_id=699443 time=1614332211 user_id=3168 Things aint perfect these days, but they're a lot better than they could have been. I'm glad my kids never had to grow up to witness or experience some of the things we did. :( True, true Cap’n! Looking back it’s scary to think of w...

Re: Ulster MOTM v Ospreys
Nick was the standout player of an overall poor team performance. Even wee Mikey made too many errors ( unlike him) , and Mads was good but not good enough. Stockdale played well (albeit mainly in defence) - might have got into his stride a bit better had he been given the opportunity in the second ...

Re: Who remembers D-day?
You have evoked some memories indeed Cap’n!, I had forgotten about the whole double token thingy and yes I did the swapping tickets trick. My journey involved travelling the length of the Antrim Road from the City Centre to the Outer Limits (aka Glengormley!). My school uniform was not appreciated b...

Re: Who remembers D-day?
Yes indeed Cap’n - bus tokens became an alternate currency! If I remember correctly there were adult and child tokens - the yellow ticket machine was for the children (up to 16 yrs) token and the red machine was for the adults? The tokens were not dissimilar in size and shape to the current £1 coin ...

Re: Contract Situation
Rory’s book is not exactly a page turner! Makes Fez’s book look interesting! All very run of the mill no great reveals on behind the scenes at either Ulster or D4. A bit on insight re family etc. which gives something of the make of the man. Paul O’Connell’s book is perhaps the best of the bunch of ...

Re: Glasgow v ULSTER MoTM?
Lowry was excellent but in terms of the match as a whole I think Madigan deserves the plaudits.

Re: Who remembers D-day?
I remember it very well Mervyn! I had a Saturday job in a butchers at the time and had a rare time trying to explain to old dears that their 17 1/2 p (or ‘new pence’ as it was called for some time!) meat parcel was still the same price as the 3s 6d one she got the previous week! My tips suffered gre...

I know from personal experience that Sir Nigel H would have been reaching for his pocket as soon as Doak’s lips showed any sign of movement!

Re: Ulster ‘A’ v Leinster ‘A’ Fri 15th Jan 3pm KO Live on BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport NI website
Doak will learn in time - he is still raw and needs to adjust to the pace of the game (as witnessed is his very nervy debut for the senior team). But he is by no means out of place and as KOTH says - he is not the only option coming through - so it bodes well. One player who has not been mentioned w...

Re: Any word on the Academy?
If he has half the skills and rugby brain of his grandad he’ll be a goodun and well worth watching! And was granda Willie out half for Belfast Boys Model under the tutelage of Ernie Davis.........hence the CI link? I presume so - I only knew Willie from CI - had the privilege of playing a few games...

Re: ULSTER MOTM vs Munster
Burns did really well as did McIlroy - the entire back row really put their hands up ( including McCloskey!!
) but for me Nick Timoney played his socks off and deserves the accolade.

Is Jude Postlethwaite related to Willie P of CIYMS and Ulster fame (grandson or grand nephew)?

Re: Connacht v ULSTER MoTM?
There are a few contenders worthy of the accolade! The back row were excellent - not least Jordi - Mads was superb and without his kicking and game management we would not have been in the match at all, the engine room were outstanding in the tight and the loose - so it’s a really close call, but fo...
