Re: Vote early, vote often.

BR, thank you for the informative response to the question. So, if it is the case that those who put 1 against Donaldson because their primary reason was to support the DUP's view that Stormont should not function until the Protocol is 'resolved' (however so defined), which does have a logic, then d...

Re: Vote early, vote often.

So Brenda Hale, who was an MLA in Lagan Valley and lost her seat in 2017 did not want to be a part of this outstandingly cynical manoeuvre ? Perhaps due to the fact that she is the prospective DUP candidate for the Parliamentary seat when/should His Donaldson ever decide to grace Stormont with his l...

Re: Vote early, vote often.

Is Mervyn related to Edwin? My mistake - in my fevered state I was clearly getting E Poots mixed up with M Storey (another sad reduction in the DUP's scientific expertise). Thank you for spotting it. I will definitely learn the lessons, take the positives, be more clinical, look for the marg...

Re: Vote early, vote often.

Mmm, knew I should have put that carriage return mid-way through that last paragraph.... Didn't think there might be some who think I would be holding the DUP responsible for the actions of Vladimir Putin too..... That's a step too far even for them. As for your last question, perfectly fine, bar a ...

Re: Vote early, vote often.

The protocol as it stands is a causing problems for NI and it’s businesses. There is no need to Undertake checks for goods from GB & that remain in NI. It is ridiculous…….both time consuming and expensive. It needs to be fixed and should be fixed. There are rumours that the Protocol as it stand...

Re: Vote early, vote often.

Not at all, BVee - I picked that out as it was an interesting question that had crossed my mind too and thought it worthy of a bit of further investigation. Just because you asked it doesn't make you either for it or against it (well, at least in my mind). The same point could be made around the two...

I voted right down the list but because my No 1 stayed until the final count that's where it remained.
Thanks. I think I understand how that works (being somewhat new to this PR-STV thing).

Re: Vote early, vote often.

I think the current constituency based PR system is as good as you can get given that it favours local representation while going some way to accommodate smaller parties. The actual structures of government at Stormont DO need an overhaul though. My vote was one of those that counted for nathin lik...

Re: Heineken Cup / Challenge Cup Dates 2022/23

So then this will be aligned with the URC not having any matches during the Autumn Internationals and 6N, as was supposed to happen this season but COVID scuppered it ? Who'd be a Leinster 23rd to 42th ranked squad player then ?

Tbh, was hoping for another match for the 2022-23 season ticket....

Any idea why they've not gone back to the groups of 4 format ?

Re: Vote early, vote often.

A party with approximately double the number of first preferences of another party gets 17 times the number of seats. Proportional misrepresentation? Bobbievee, I've picked out this one part of your post as (IMO) it's worth looking at in a little more detail..... and particularly around the issue o...

Re: Edinburgh v Ulster Saturday April 30th 7:35pm KO Premier Sports 2 / URC TV / Super Sport

If anything Ireland should be at a considerable disadvantage compared to Scotland given the strength of Gaelic sports (in addition to soccer) on this Island. Indeed. When you look at the long term overall impact of the Gaelic Revival (which is what the GAA came out of in the later years of the 19th...

Re: Edinburgh v Ulster Saturday April 30th 7:35pm KO Premier Sports 2 / URC TV / Super Sport

Having been over to Edinburgh for the match, and now re-watched it, it seemed to be the sort of performance (physical and mental) that was necessary. Assisted no end by some fairly woeful Edinburgh pass selection and finishing. However, all the crowd was involved in the last 10 minutes, and hats off...

by the way...whats all the slagging of my mates about? you never know...you might be surprised...maybe even intrigued Well, you're the one who introduced their thoughts..... Re: Contract Situation

I'm backing big Dan. Ulster is not an easy coaching gig. Far from it. Shafted by the FIRFU many times. I do have my queries at times over selection. I will never know how Matt Rea, Jones were preferred without Marcus getting a sniff for so long. Equally though his persistence with 'he who must not ...
